Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Engaging story.

I purchased this book on a whim and I’m really glad I did. It is a very engaging story with great world building and developed characters. The voice actors are also spot on. I would recommend Quicksilver.

Historia
Annie Bot was created to be the perfect girlfriend for her human owner Doug. Designed to satisfy his emotional and physical needs, she has dinner ready for him every night, wears the pert outfits he orders for her, and adjusts her libido to suit his moods. True, she’s not the greatest at keeping Doug’s place spotless, but she’s trying to please him. She’s trying hard.

Disturbing listen; makes you think.
Revisado: 07-20-24
Although this was a very good and engaging book, it was a little hard to listen to. Hearing the way that Annie is thought of and treated by Doug, all the way to the end, was just so sad. It was so easy to empathize with Annie, and see her actions and attitudes mirrored in many human women. It also shines a light on abuse that is discounted because it’s not physical abuse, but is so harmful nonetheless. It is also very thought provoking because technology is advancing by leaps and bounds-how soon until this isn’t just fiction? This is a very worthwhile listen, but don’t expect to end with a happy glow.

Narration was hard to get past.
Revisado: 05-07-24
It was a pretty standard story in this genre, so good if this is what you’re looking for.
The virtual voice narration was difficult. There was very little inflection, and when there was it was often in the incorrect place. Some words sounded as though they were cut off so it was choppy. There was no difference between the characters so more than once I had to go back to figure out who was talking. If a different virtual voice was used for each character it may have been easier to listen to, however, as it is now, I’d rather pay extra to have real actors narrate.

Historia
I’ve never laid eyes on a man, not even in pictures. Eden is a woman’s world...a world no man has ever stepped foot on. But then the Khetar arrive. They’re big alien men, in a big alien ship, with big alien d—let’s just say it’s a big problem, especially because High Command assigns me to operate the airlock for a diplomatic mission. I make first contact with their king, their scion: Thuliak. One look into those burning teal eyes is all it takes. He’s the first and last man I ever need to see. A woman from Eden may never touch a man.

This was degrading and dehumanizing.
Revisado: 12-06-23
Where oh where to start…possibly when Airlock Eve (because she is the engineer that operates the airlocks on her ship) agrees to, and has, an orgasm three minutes after meeting the alien because he tells her she has to explain what his kind will do. Or maybe it’s when the 20 foot high holograms of alien men are masturbating and cause riots in the largest city on Eden because all the women want to get in on that. It could be when the alien refuses to call her by her name, and threatens to throw anyone (including her female friends) in the brig if they call her anything but Airlock. Or when he consistently treated her as a child. I had some hope when the 2nd alien kidnapped her, told her that he would always be straight with her, and called her Eve. He even corrected the other one and said “she prefers Eve”. Unfortunately a few minutes later he told her that she didn’t need to be part of the discussion of what was going to happen to her because it was between the two men and shouldn’t concern her! I NEVER liked the men at all, and felt like Eve was a complete wimp and just took the condescending misogyny like a good little girl.
Maybe this dynamic will be resolved in the following books but I just can’t bring myself to try. This book left me feeling icky.

It was a day like any other. Except it was our last.... It’s on this day that Pounce discovers that he is, in fact, disposable. Pounce, a styilsh "nannybot" fashioned in the shape of a plush anthropomorphic tiger, has just found a box in the attic. His box. The box he'd arrived in when he was purchased years earlier, and the box in which he'll be discarded when his human charge, eight-year-old Ezra Reinhart, no longer needs a nanny. As Pounce ponders his suddenly uncertain future, the pieces are falling into place for a robot revolution that will eradicate humankind.

The story was pretty good, but could have been fleshed out more. The only problem that I had with the narration is that Surnen sounded like he was old, not a male in his prime. The story definitely opened up more that the Hive is up to and I’m looking forward to finding out what they’re trying to do and how the coalition will thwart them.

As an unauthorized third child with parents who were more interested in their various criminal enterprises than they were in her, Michelle Carter is used to feeling unloved, but it still hurts when she is brought to another world as a bride for two men who turn out not to even want one. After Roan and Dane lost the woman they loved, they swore there would never be anyone else, and when their closest friend purchases a human, they reject the match. Kinky Beauty and the Beast(s)
Revisado: 09-15-21
Okay, so not exactly following the complete story line, but if you watched the Disney version over and over as a kid (or when your kid watched it) you’ll hear enough things in common to make you smile or chuckle. This was my favorite so far in the series. The h wasn’t some whiny spoiled woman/child, she was willing to stand up for her beliefs and accept the consequences that may come from it. This should have been Isabella. She didn’t rebel just because she wanted to, there was a conviction and strength behind it. The H’s actually valued her and were willing to explain the fear they felt and the reasons for the punishments. There seemed an actual connection behind the relationship and eventual love.
I have a bit of an issue with the whole shame factor behind some of it. I can see in the beginning of the story, especially her being a virgin, but by the end, come on, own your sexuality! You’re mated to two men, why would DP be shameful when it’s what you all want and crave? Also, “naughty bottom hole?” Really? Again, at the beginning, okay. But at the end? Shouldn’t her mates be praising her willingness to submit to them and not making her feel like it’s a shameful thing to want be with and to please them?
The narrator did a good job with the men, and okay for the woman, but this would have been better with a woman for the female parts.
If you like a somewhat dark BDSM romance, this is one I’d recommend (especially if you can laugh when you hear and imagine “don’t go into the East wing!” “Why?” “It is forbidden!” A tale as old as time…

For the crime of stealing bread, 14-year-old May receives a life sentence: She must become a Sin Eater - a shunned woman, brutally marked, whose fate is to hear the final confessions of the dying, eat ritual foods symbolizing their sins as a funeral rite, and thereby shoulder their transgressions to grant their souls access to heaven. Orphaned and friendless, apprenticed to an older Sin Eater who cannot speak to her, May must make her way in a dangerous and cruel world she barely understands.

Powerful story
Revisado: 11-04-20
May is a 14 year old girl who is cursed to become a Sin Eater after being caught stealing bread. A Sin Eater is the confessor for the people of her town; as death approaches they confess their sins to her and she agrees to take all their sins upon her soul so they can die clean. She then eats corresponding food off their coffin for each of the sins. This causes her to be shunned and feared by the people thinking she is fully corrupted by all the sins. While exercising her duties she discovers that there has been a colossal cover-up involving murder and treason. Unfortunately part of her curse is that she may not speak except in doing her duties as a Sin Eater. The transformation of her character from being hostile and angry, to vengeful, to realizing the peace she gives to the dying is very moving. The narration was excellent and Shiromi Arserio was a perfect choice. I would highly recommend this book.

Terrific story
Revisado: 06-17-20
This was an original story. You know how sometimes books feel like there is a formula and just the details were changed? This one didn’t feel like that. I liked that several of the predictions I made early on were incorrect, it kept me engaged and continuing to guess.
The narration was very good, both Lucas Webley and Vanessa Moyen. You could distinguish between the different characters by both voice and personality of not just the main characters but secondary ones as well.
Although there was sex, it wasn’t excessive and didn’t overtake the story.
I would recommend this book, it’s worth the money or credit. Although it didn’t end on a cliffhanger, you know that there will be a continuation to resolve issues. I’m looking forward to it and won’t hesitate to purchase it.

Lucas Thatcher has always been my enemy. It's been a decade since I've seen him, but our years on opposite coasts were less of a lasting peace and more of a temporary cease-fire. Now that we're both back in our small town, I know Lucas expects the same old war, but I've changed since high school - and from the looks of it, so has he. The arrogant boy who was my teenage rival is now a chiseled doctor armed with intimidating good looks.

Revisado: 04-03-20
Although I’ve liked other books by R. S. Grey this one was painful to get through. The female character was petty and impossible to like. The male character, although not as bad, was still petulant. Overall the narration was okay but the occasional lisp was very distracting.
