Historia
This is a short and honest account of how God demonstrated his exceeding great mercy to his unworthy servant John Bunyan. This story specifically tells how Bunyan was converted. John Bunyan was a companion of sin and was troubled by sin. He fought temptation and sin in his own strength and lost, and in despair, he gave up hope of ever finding God’s mercy; but the Lord Jesus Christ at last delivered him from the guilt and terror that so often and so viciously troubled him.

Historia
According to Christianity, man is an enemy of God and does not seek him (Romans 3). This short work from Thomas Chalmers shows what is necessary to move one from a life of enmity toward God to one as a child of God. It is knowing, seeing, and tasting God as infinitely valuable. Human beings are creatures whose hearts, like nature, detest a vacuum, and so to expel the sin and selfishness in our hearts, we must fill them with something that is better and more satisfying - namely, Jesus Christ.

If you are stuck in someone's control or don't want to be, you must know this favorite mind game of great manipulators. It is so powerful that most people won't be able to detect it even for many years of being enslaved. Why? Gaslighting is a very common method of manipulation that when intentionally or even unintentionally used, you'll be so influenced emotionally that you cannot think for yourself or for your own good. Sound nasty? It is. But you'll never know when you're participating as the inflictor or the prey until you explore this book.

Revisado: 03-10-25
I am 65 years old and I am in my second marriage. Although a church going man, my entire life, I was not truly converted until after the age of 60. This book is a good tool for a man who has never known what it meant to love his wife rightly I intend to do just that I would hartily recommend this book. For the young and old.

Burning pyres, nuns on the run, stirring courage, and comic relief: the Protestant Reformation is a gripping tale, packed with drama. But what motivated the Reformers? And what were they really like? The Unquenchable Flame, a lively, accessible, and fully informative introduction to the Reformation by Michael Reeves, brings to life the movement's most colorful characters (Martin Luther, Ulrich Zwingli, John Calvin, The Puritans, etc.), examines their ideas, and shows the profound and personal relevance of Reformation thinking for today.

How do Christians grow? Few question the call of the Bible to grow in godliness, but the answer to exactly how this happens is often elusive. In this audiobook, Dane Ortlund points believers to Christ, making the case that sanctification does not happen by doing more or becoming better, but by going deeper into the wondrous gospel truths that washed over them when they were first united to him.

Historia
Jonathan Edwards is widely hailed as the greatest theologian in American history. In Edwards on the Christian Life, Dane Ortlund invites us to explore the great eighteenth-century pastor’s central passion: God’s resplendent beauty. Whether the topic was the nature of love, the preeminence of Scripture, or the glory of the natural world, the concept of beauty stood at the heart of Edwards’s theology and permeated his portrait of the Christian life.

A balanced view of Edwards
Revisado: 07-29-24
I appreciate that. The author does not lift up Edwards, more highly than he ought to, but still gives Edwards a place a promise that he deserves. He also takes the time to vary from Edwards on one’s focus, whether it be towards one insides or outward towards God, and looking for assurance, I think this is a valid point. The book was interesting easy to listen to, and a good synopsis.

Fear is one of the strongest human emotions — and one that often baffles Christians. In the Bible the picture can seem equally confusing: Is fear a good thing or a bad thing? And what does it mean to “fear the Lord”? In this audiobook, Michael Reeves clears the clouds of confusion and shows that the fear of the Lord is not a negative thing at all, but an intensely delighted wondering at God, our creator and redeemer.

I like that Michael Reeves takes us on a journey and shows scripturally that too have a proper fear of the lord will push out addictive behaviors. Even lifestyle choices that have ruined peoples lives, and there is transforming power in the fear of the Lord, and that a new glorious affection out shines and pushes out all the affection for sin.

A 43 page book written to encourage the estranged parent. The Bible speaks at length of two kinds of estrangement. Two different paths that got there, and two different paths to get out. Both David and the Prodigal Father faced estrangement from their adult child. Support, advice, and encouragement "in the waiting". Written by an estranged mother.
