Historia
One night, and my entire life went up in flames. All because of him. Jafar. As my world burned down around me, he offered me a choice. Walk away with nothing but my freedom...or rise to his challenge and win my fortune back. I bargained. I lost. Now Jafar owns me, and even as my mind rails against his rules, my body loves the punishments he deals out when I break them. But a gilded cage is still a prison, I’ll do anything to obtain my freedom. Even betray the man I’m falling for. Content Warning: This book contains depictions of consensual non-consent.

So disappointed
Revisado: 03-26-25
I was so excited to try this. for Jasmine to end up with the bad guy. but then I quickly realized it was just another stupid BDSM book. brutally disappointed does not cover it. I finally got the pairing that I would want, and it was a book I can't even bear to listen to. I also didn't like that it was modern. oh well. maybe someday someone will write the book I'm dreaming of

Wanted to like, but was too cheesy
Revisado: 03-22-25
I'm all about androids, and the story of this book was sort of interesting. The book was short, so it didn't leave a lot of time to develop the world, or how all of it came to be. The writing was juvenile, like a 13 year old wrote it. Super cheesy. The reader, I swear, seemed to be mocking it at times. She was very annoying and abrasive. I won't be reading or listening to any others by this author, I'm afraid.

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real. They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children.

King's Most Boring Book
Revisado: 03-17-25
Now, my review does not include the performance, which was outstanding. But the book droned on and on, probably at least half has nothing to do with the main storyline. It was incredibly boring. I have loved King's books and found some dull, but this was, by far, my least favorite Stephen King book. The book could have been half sized without the endless forays into unrelated topics.

Historia
Laura Kasischke, the critically acclaimed and nationally bestselling poet and author of The Raising, returns Mind of Winter, a dark and chilling thriller that combines domestic drama with elements of psychological suspense and horror - an addictive tale of denial and guilt that is part Joyce Carol Oates and part Chris Bohjalian. On a snowy Christmas morning, Holly Judge awakens with the fragments of a nightmare floating on the edge of her consciousness. Something followed them from Russia.

BORING
Revisado: 01-31-25
I wanted to like this book, being I have a deep interest in the plight of orphans in countries like Russia. However this book droned on and on. The mother's internal dialogue takes up 80 percent of the book. The big surprise ending was predictable, the ending rushed despite the fact that I wanted it to end. The characters weren't likeable, and I still have no clear picture of what happened by the end.

the story was pretty boring and droned on and on and on with no point. I really wish it was more about her and her mother. the person reading it was almost monophyllabic.

Historia
Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. David's mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn't protect him.

I could not stop listening to this incredible story. David tells it straight forward, and his story is amazing. the abuse and manipulations of his father, and honestly his mother, make you wonder how all the crow children wound up so well. the narrator was outstanding. I loved the insight into the reservation as well. highly recommend

pet sematary is still one of my all-time favorite stories. I love the Erie feeling, and this narrator was outstanding. I actually had to turn it off a couple times while listening to it at night because hearing it read by him made it 10 times scarier.

Historia
The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power, it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal, a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss.
