Unusual but very good.

Silas is a very unconventional protagonist. He struggled to live humbly in a sometimes hostile and unfair world.

Historia
Because we are continuously taking in information from a variety of sources, we are under constant threat from those who would intentionally (or accidentally) misinform - from foreign operatives, advertisers, politicians, and general scammers to our own friends and family. To better prepare you, IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board) has teamed up with The Great Courses to provide a guide for navigating this tricky landscape with this eight-lecture course designed to arm you with the skills you need to be a savvy media consumer.

A Good Source of Information and Practical Advice
Revisado: 04-14-22
I have read several books about propaganda and misinformation and this still added to my knowledge. But of greater importance it informed me about helpful things I can do to improve my life. For example, they suggest looking at ones feelings after exposure to news in some form. This helps me take control of my reactions and helps me assess whether I want to consume news like this in the future.
They also point out the seemingly neutral tactic of advanced propaganda operators. The idea is that by promoting any and every form of extreme opinion the operators achieve a general destabilization. Methods like these use free speech to undermine democratic society.
This brief study is an easy quick way to learn a lot about the many forms of strong persuasion being used to undermine the happiness and security of ordinary people. The very powerful want your money and any power you have. They don't care about your happiness. Learning to not be influenced protects your own interests and happiness.

Historia
The link between the religion of biblical Israel and the religion we now identify as rabbinic Judaism is often controversial. The controversy is often linked to theological agendas rather than an honest approach to Israel’s history. The religion of ancient Israel is linked to rabbinic Judaism is many ways. The two are linked by a shared belief in the one supreme God who created the world, chose the the Jewish people to be His people.

Historia
In 24 lectures that let you see the world through the eyes of the Enlightenment's greatest writers, follow the origin of new ways of thinking-ideas we today take for granted but are startlingly recent-about the individual and society. You'll discover how these notions emerged in an era of transition from a world dominated by classical thought, institutional religion, and the aristocracy to one that was increasingly secular, scientific, skeptical, and middle class.

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Very Enlihhtening

Wow, I did not even see the depths of cultural socialization that formed my implict bias. This book has opened my eyes to the cultural basis for cognitive dissonance about race even in people who believe in fundamental equality. Bias this deep is hard to change even in part.
