Historia
After his fifth birthday, the heir of Pemberley disappears in the waters of a mighty river while the Daltons find the son they had waited for many years. Violet and Aaron Dalton were traveling to Manchester after a pleasant family reunion in Lambton. Due to inclement weather, they had to stop at an inn in a small town. There, they found a little boy on the bank of a river. After unsuccessful efforts to find his parents, they adopted and raised the orphan boy as their son. Simultaneously, George and Anne Darcy lost their son in an unfortunate tragedy, and their lives would never be the same....

Fabulous and Definitely worth a listen!
Revisado: 04-25-25
I highly recommend this P&P variation. I have listened and read likely a hundred P&P variations. This story is a new take on canon characters and some new ones to help with the storyline.
Here’s among what I loved: I had never seen this plot before, with Darcy going missing (presumed dead) as a young child.
Darcy (whose adopted name is Dalton), meets Elizabeth. And that’s how their connection begins.
This story is a love story, it’s a suspense, it’s filled with character development. This is not a “retelling”. You don’t get the “copy and paste” here. There isn’t the same storyline.
I won’t reveal spoilers. There are subplots for Jane and Bingley. And the Bingley sisters are written very well. Wickham is a wolf in sheep’s clothes. When I say this story is its own new plot, that’s a great compliment.
We even get to know Mr. George Darcy! He struggles with loyalty and a promise he made Mrs Wickham and protecting his daughter Georgiana.
There’s just such character development that I enjoyed how this story unfolded.
And I love the strength of character of Georgiana.
This story is totally worth a listen!
Let me address the virtual voice narration. That’s why I took away stars only for narration.
I put the speed on 1.2 and gave this story a try for the merits of the writing and new plot. I’m glad I did. The story is worth it, even though the VV for this story isn’t great, even at 1.2. There were no errors in pronunciation. But the VV did sound like VV.
However. The storyline, the characters, the way the stories unfold, all of that makes this book more than worth your time. I truly enjoyed this book and I am so glad I found it and gave it a chance. The author did a fabulous job!

Historia
When pretending to be in love leads to the real thing... A shared theater box and London gossip thrust Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy into an unexpected arrangement. Their solution to quell the simmering scandal? Appear together at carefully selected events, making their "courtship" seem so perfectly proper that society will lose interest. It's the perfect plan—until pretense starts feeling like truth, and carefully guarded hearts begin to crack. This variation on Jane Austen's beloved Pride and Prejudice weaves fake dating and enemies-to-lovers tropes into a tale of wit and longing, ...

Really nice P&P Short Story
Revisado: 04-22-25
If you’re looking for a quick P&P short story, with low angst, this novella fits the bill. The story features mostly Darcy, Elizabeth, Jane and Mr Bingley, while the Bennett ladies are costing their aunt and uncle in London. You’ll find the characters are canon, and the personalities come out well.
The narration is VV, which I put on 1.2 speed. There are no mistakes in the narration.

Historia
Elizabeth Bennet goes to Netherfield to care for her sister and, while there, is treated with such contempt by its occupants that the only way she can find respite is by spending time in a small reading room with a fine collection of books. One night she goes there and is surprised to find Darcy in the room as well. Eventually she discovers that it is not a reading room at all but his sitting room. She is just about to leave when a maid walks in and catches them together. Two weeks later they are married and on their way to Pemberley. Darcy, whose attraction to Elizabeth had been slowly ...

LOVED THIS - TOP 10
Revisado: 04-01-25
I’m SO glad I found this wonderful book! I’ve easily read or listened to more than a hundred P&P variations. This is a TOP 10 hands down.
The premise: There was an accidental compromise leading to the necessary marriage of Elizabeth and Darcy. What unfolds is a depth of emotion that spills off the pages. I felt what the characters experienced.
I found the personalities to be canon and the growth and development to be realistic. Time flew by.
This truly is an audible book worth a listen. It’s that good.
And now let’s talk about the virtual voice narration. I agree. Nothing compares to my P&P favorite narrators. I held back a star for performance to account for the VV. But. To be honest. I found this VV to be fine. I wasn’t at all distracted by the VV. I put the speed on 1.2 and had a pleasurable listen. I didn’t find any errors at all in pronunciation.
Because of the premise, the excellent writing, the believable characterizations, and the wonderful journey, I highly recommend this book.

P&P Darcy’s POV pt 1
Revisado: 03-27-25
Loved it!
Okay. Usually I don’t at all like the rehashings. The P&P variations where the author copy and pastes chunks of Austen’s original. This book is NOT that.
Here’s what it is. It’s the first part of P&P from Darcy’s perspective. His feelings. His inner angst.
This book is so cool because of that.
I also enjoyed learning Bingley from this POV. And. This is how it all went down. How Darcy managed to orchestrate the separation of Bingley and Jane. Oh that part just really came alive.
And there are a few other interesting parts. New.
But by far. The best is seeing Elizabeth thru Darcy’s eyes.
I am going to purchase parts 2 and 3.

Wonderful!
Revisado: 03-22-25
What a gripping story in so many ways.
The over arching plot with Elizabeth and Darcy was so well written. The reader truly learns the depth of Darcy’s love and what he will do for Elizabeth. And we learn the same about Elizabeth.
Of course no P&P variation wouldn’t be complete without a villain. And of does this book have its share. It’s not your normal betrayals (plural), either.
Fear not. The author doesn’t make the reader wait too long along the process. Or at least time definitely flies by.
There are subplots as well that are nicely unveiled.
Characters are well developed, especially E and D.

East House is the oldest and least desirable dorm on campus, but it has a draw for lonely university freshman Aleeza Kassam: Jay Hoque, the hot and broody student who vanished from East House five months ago without a trace. It’s irresistible to an aspiring investigative journalist like Aleeza. But when she starts receiving texts from Jay, the mystery takes an unexpected turn. To put it mildly.

Interesting spin on time travel
Revisado: 03-22-25
It’s a pretty interesting concept, the concept of time travel. This story presents an interesting spin on this very thing.
I found the plot realistic and believable. The suspense was real, as we never knew who to trust.
The way the two main characters could communicate was also interesting and believable. Like a glitch in the matrix.
The only reason I held back a star is that a few questions were left unanswered, and I have zero imagination, so I like having all of my plot lines tied up in nice bows.
It’s totally worth a credit or purchasing on sale too.
Great job.

Historia
It is 1803, and a treaty has allowed England and France to enjoy a brief moment of peace in the midst of the Napoleonic wars. Darcy is despondent over Elizabeth’s refusal of his proposal at Hunsford, so Colonel Fitzwilliam proposes a trip to Paris as a distraction. At a ball, Darcy unexpectedly encounters Elizabeth, who is visiting Paris with the Gardiners. He sees this as his opportunity to court Elizabeth properly and rectify past mistakes. Before he can make much progress, however, England declares war again, and Darcy must help Elizabeth flee France.

Really nice P&P variation
Revisado: 03-16-25
If you’re looking for a really nice variation of P&P, this one to add to your wish list.
Let me tell you what it’s not. It’s not a copy and paste from Austen’s original. It’s not a rehashing.
Rather. Darcy goes to France to give his cousin Fitzwilliam some company and to try and recover from his heartache after being rejected by Elizabeth. Coincidentally, Elizabeth is in France with her aunt and uncle.
What unfolds is this story. Most of the characters are canon. Some new characters are added to help strengthen the plot.

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 03-07-25
If you’re looking for a P&P variation, this is a nice choice. There’s none of the copy and paste from Austen’s original, which we see in so many retellings.
The premise is that Elizabeth and Jane take their deaths so they are not a burden to their aunt and uncle after Mr. Bennett dies. Darcy believes them dead. But what happens when Elizabeth is near death in her and Jane’s home? That’s where this story takes off.
Darcy never gives up. That’s the key. He is great at expressing himself. Elizabeth is stubborn and prideful I think. But she does have character growth.
The cast of characters in this variation are written well and believable.
The narration is amazing. Of course.

Every woman wants to be Elizabeth Bennet Darcy - beautiful, gracious, universally admired, strong, daring and outspoken - a thoroughly modern woman in crinolines. And every woman will fall madly in love with Mr. Darcy - tall, dark and handsome, a nobleman and a heartthrob whose virility is matched only by his utter devotion to his wife. Their passion is consuming and idyllic - essentially, they can’t keep their hands off each other - through a sweeping tale of adventure and misadventure, human folly and numerous mysteries of parentage.

A “Must Listen” for P&P fans
Revisado: 03-04-25
Phenomenal. This P&P variation is canon with the characters we met in Austin’s P&P, and we meet new minor characters who help complete the next chapter in E & D’s life. This book shows what happens after the “I do’s”.
There is suspense, love, the acts of making love (sometimes in detail), drama, murder, extreme sadness, betrayal, trust, kindness, deceit, a depth of character development, and a revealing of some characters who never change.
Be ready for an emotional ride. Time flew by with this book, and I found myself staying up at all hours because I couldn’t put it down. Some of this book is heartbreaking, but so real for the time period.
I found myself laughing out loud at many points. The author apparently researched deeply into the period, and I don’t think she ever repeated a word for Darcy’s “manhood”. Let’s just say that Darcy has met his match with Elizabeth. Their marriage is certainly one of mutual affection. To say the least.
For all of the readers/listeners who hope for some Lady Catherine comeuppance. Look no further. And it’s too good not to spoil, because I think this part might just encourage you to use a credit: Lady C gets her hat shot in two, right on top of her head, by Elizabeth. I won’t say the circumstances. But… get this audible.
Lydia cracks me up with her unapologetic views on sex, empowerment, and how she knows her husband’s next step before he even makes it. Oh, and Wickham is even more of an evil man than I thought. What he does to a new character we meet and fall in love with…well I am just heartbroken here.
On a lighter note, the pure kindness of Jane is explored even more. Jane is so selfless. We really get a chance to know Georgiana, and her strength of character development is unparalleled.
I could go on. And I really want to. But let me pivot to narration. The narration is excellent. You forget there IS narration. The story just comes alive. The words shine through. I listened in 1.2 mode, where the words are normal, and just a tinge faster.
When I googled this book, I learned the author wrote this book as her first. It’s the only one in a series of three that made it to Audible. There are two more books in published form, in her 3-part series of life after the weddings. I have no idea why the other two weren’t narrated and on audible. I would use credits for those as well. That is my only complaint. I want more. But, I’m going to have to suffer (lol) by actually reading them myself.
This book is THAT good! I highly recommend for any P&P fan.

Miss Caroline Bingley has long been a thorn in the side of Fitzwilliam Darcy's friendship with Charles Bingley; the visit to Netherfield Park to help Bingley learn the craft of an estate manager has all the potential for disaster. But Darcy will not shirk, for his friendship with Bingley outweighs his distaste for the man's sister. In his defense, Darcy enlists his manservant, a man equally committed to ensure Miss Bingley will not become his master's wife.

Fabulous P&P Variation
Revisado: 02-24-25
Such an unexpected twist! What I lived about this P&P Version is that it was a refreshing new take. There was zero repetition of original plot lines, except how badly Miss Bingley wants to entrap Mr Darcy.
I enjoyed the easy conversations and ease of how the relationships grew. I recommended this variation.
