Long-time residents of Promise Lodge welcome a wave of newcomers that includes a pretty potter who's come to help an expectant couple, and a hard-working dairy expert ready to manage the herds on the expanding Burkholder farm. Then there's Isaac Chupp, the handsome, charming son of a notoriously unyielding Bishop from nearby Coldstream. Isaac has recklessly rebelled against his dat, and his bad boy reputation precedes him. Now he seeks a fresh start, applying for work at Dale Kraybill's bulk store.

Maybe too many characters
Revisado: 07-23-24
I couldn't keep even 1 chapter straight. To the bitter end I couldn't keep up with which characters were the subject.

Slow Start
Revisado: 07-19-24
The introduction of characters was too long and the details were a little bit taxing. story picked up towards the middle. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Historia
Sadie Schrock swore she would never marry. All of her other Amish friends could court and marry—she was content to manage the family business and eventually take it over when her parents are ready to retire. But all of that changes when a reckless driver kills both of her parents and seriously injures her younger sister. With mounting hospital bills adding to the pile of debt her parents left behind, Sadie is left with no choice: She must marry. And not just any man—the man who saw her at her weakest and walked away.

Historia
Essie Mae Richardson is an elderly, wise, and church-going soul. She lives alone, but spends most of her time worrying about those around her. Using God’s guidance and wisdom picked up over the years, she keeps an eye on things happening around her, and when the time is right, she reaches out to those who don’t even know they need her. Quite innocently, Ms. Essie touches three families, each in her own special way, causing them to reflect on her words, giving them the love, prayers, and good home-cooked meals needed to help them realize the importance of life.

Loving, Sweet, Exciting and Touching
Revisado: 11-21-22
I very much enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed and I enjoyed how they all came together. A book filled with faith, despair and love. It brought to mind my own MS. Essie.
The narrator did a wonderful job. I recognized each character right away. And the emotions were obvious in her reflection. I not only recommend it, but I believe I will likely read it again.

Great Story but...
Revisado: 10-18-22
The child's voice and mannerisms were sometimes very difficult to listen to. Even when I thought she was 5 or 6 years old, I struggled. One thing the author hit on for age appropriate was on the rare occasions of her acting the brat. I did love the actual story and theme of the book.

Historia
Two estranged sisters, Lillian and Adelia, struggle to come to terms after the mother they've believed to be dead for the past 15 years actually passes away. Confused and in shock, they travel together to the isolated village of their childhood to claim the farm that was passed on to them. It flowed well. It was well written and it was short. As the title says, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Pun intended.

Historia
Two years ago, Olivia Martindale left behind her Montana hometown and her husband, Jace, certain it was the best decision for both of them. Back temporarily to protect her almost-adopted daughters from their biological mother, she discovers an old, handwritten cookbook in the attic. Its pages are stained and torn, their edges scorched by flame. Some have been smeared by water or tears. The recipes are written in different hands and in different languages.

Second time I've Listened
Revisado: 10-08-22
It won't be the last. This series is my favorite. Not only of Charlotte Hubbard, but so far of any author I've listened to. Due to an injury I can no longer read and I appreciate a good Christian book to listen to, not filled with sex and foul language substituting for love.

Historia
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.
