Historia
Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the headmaster of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth.

Historia
Domenic Marino has become an expert at code-switching between the hypermasculine and ultrafeminine worlds of his two soon-to-be-wed best friends. But this summer—reeling from his own failed engagement and tasked with attending their bachelor and bachelorette parties—he's anxious over having to play both sides. The pressure is on. The bride wants Dom to keep things clean. The groom wants Dom to let loose with the guys. And Dom just wants to get out of this whole mess with his friendships intact.

Another typical gay story
Revisado: 07-10-23
I am conflicted. The story was good but followed the same troupe as every other gay story.
Spoilers to follow...
It set itself up to have deeper exploration of the main characters complex feelings of need to please everyone, discover who he truly is and have some self respect in the men he chooses to start a relationship with. That is the direction it seemed it was headed.
Instead, we have just another vapid, insecure gay man hero worshiping straight men. Shocker.
The entire time he is unhappy with his life and complains about it but doesn't actually fix anything. He loves the piano; hates his job. Sticks with the job. Has massive insecurity issues, doesn't do anything about it.
He ultimately falls for the straight athlete. After getting out of a toxic relationship; he decides to enter another toxic relationship. Is subservient to the needs of the guy, foregoing any self-respect he was working towards.
So, though a decent read, I am let down by the predictable and ultimately stereotypical ending.

Historia
Single father Todd is relaxing at the beach with his son, Anthony, when he catches sight of a man approaching from the water’s edge. As the man draws closer, Todd recognizes him as Jack, who bullied Todd relentlessly in their teenage years but now seems overjoyed to have “run into” his old friend. Jack suggests a meal to catch up. And can he spend the night? What follows is a fast-paced story of obsession and cunning. As Jack invades Todd’s life, pain and intimidation from the past unearth knife-edge suspense in the present.

It didn't go anywhere....it was just one tone. Good twist in the middle and then....didn't resolve anything.
Overall not impressed.

Historia
In Boyfriend Material, Luc and Oliver met, pretended to fall in love, fell in love for real, dealt with heartbreak and disappointment and family and friends...and somehow figured out a way to make it work. Now it seems like everyone around them is getting married, and Luc's feeling the social pressure to propose. But it'll take more than four weddings, a funeral, and a bowl full of special curry to get these two from "I don't know what I'm doing" to "I do". Good thing Oliver is such perfect Husband Material.

Disappointed. The end did not feel like the characters at all. It was out of left field and was not befitting at all.

Historia
I know how crazy this will sound, but after a freak accident, I woke up in the 1950s...and met a really special guy. His name is Daniel Parker. He's adorable, sweet, hot, and everything else I've been searching for. There might be a way to return to my own time, but I'm not sure I can leave him.

Great concept...but..
Revisado: 06-15-22
I really don't want to ruin anything so I will keep it to a minimum.
I love the concept.I think the story had great bones.
My biggest issue is by taking this story on there there are a lot of heavy very real issues. There is great opportunity to take these on and really really explore racism and homosexuality in the past.
However, I feel like all the characters were way too agreeable in moments that realistically would not have been nearly as easy for the time period. It was way too sugar coated.
However, the story kept me intrigued. I couldn't wait to see how this ended. So many choices and so many ways that this could end beautifully.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.
Reggie throughout the entire story is mature. Grasping the big picture of the whole situation. The ending makes him immature. It feels more like a bratty teen not getting what he wants than love. The ending made no sense.
Ugh!! I have screamed and ranted for an hour to my household now.
So much potential...sadly...not satisfying

Historia
Cutthroat political consultant Thom Morgan is thriving, working on the governor of California’s presidential campaign. If only he didn’t have to deal with Clay Parker, the infuriatingly smug data analyst who gets under Thom’s skin like it’s his job. In the midst of one of their heated and very public arguments, a journalist snaps a photo, but the image makes it look like they’re kissing. As if that weren’t already worst-nightmare territory, the photo goes viral—and in a bid to secure the liberal vote, the governor asks them to lean into it. Hard.

Great listen! Rough Start.
Revisado: 06-08-22
Ok...I wasn't sure I was going to finish this book after a couple chapters. The bashing of Clay in the beginning was a bit much. All the characters were horrible to him without giving an actual reason why they or the reader should dislike him.
However, as it continued, it turned into a beautiful and sweet story. I loved the progression of the characters and the love they had felt genuine.

Conflicted Opinion
Revisado: 08-09-21
So it took me a bit to figure out what to say about this book. Spoilers ahead by the way.
So the story itself was intriguing and enjoy a good LGBT horror BUT it just fell flat. They talk about this monster the whole book but the creature gets a short explanation for it's actions at the end and becomes one of the least interesting things about the story. Soooo much more could have been done with it.
Also, becomes too weird when the conclusion to a lot of the mystery is a ring of pedophiles with weird fetishes that run a town.
The main character is anticlimactic and the side characters have way more personality.
A lot of questions still remain and the narrators overdone southern accent is distracting.
Just felt there was great potential for the story but....just lacked overall.

Simply.. extraordinary
Revisado: 07-22-21
I usually don't "fan girl" over much but pretty much anything written by TJ klune is amazing. His characters are lovable and ridiculous in the best possible way. If you haven't read his many other books I highly recommend you do. Also, Michael Lesley brings his stories to life and could read the back of a cereal box and make it the most amazing story. I am in full support of cloning TJ Klune so he can have an army of himself to write faster and I don't have to wait so long in between his books. Please and thank you.
