Historia
Welcome to ground level, to the dirt and the mess. We like the mountain tops and the sunshine. We like green grass under a clear blue sky. We like victory and breakthrough and answered prayers. But sometimes it rains, the shadows deepen, and life turns muddy. Sometimes God seems quiet. What then? What happens when depression descends, or anxiety hangs like a sword overhead? What happens when loneliness suffocates, the thief steals more than stuff, and you get blood on your shoes? In Digging in the Dirt, Jonathan Trotter delves into the disasters, the darkness, and the deluge, and he offers ...

Disappointed with AI narration. There are nuances lost to poor inflecation, misread words and poor cadence. I'll need to contact the author and purchase a hard copy to read myself.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Interesting Premise
Revisado: 04-19-25
Appreciate the storyline. Intriguing. Sadly, as with many writers, there is some repetition where the writer either failed to keep track of used phrasing or became bored or unimaginative.

Historia
In this compelling and gripping book, Preston tells the story of how God chased him. The streets of Chicago were his home, and it was there that he encountered all sorts of people who had their own versions of the truth―from Jehovah Witnesses to Mormons to Hebrew Israelites. That is where Preston discovered not only the importance of the truth but how to tell the truth in a way that speaks to someone’s heart. Sharing our faith is not about winning arguments; it’s about winning hearts.

Interesting Sequence Choice
Revisado: 12-17-24
Perhaps it is because I didn't know what to expect the juxtaposition of recording method and audience was interesting. Not sure the sequencing works well. I am stillnconsidering what the writer intended to say with that choice. Switching the second and third seemsnto make more sense for flow of context. And then, perhaps, making her content more necessary would have helped. The final dialog seems uncertain. But again, I haven't yet figured out the value of all her words to the overall context of the story.

The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Okay, But Not Quite
Revisado: 12-05-24
I like Mr. Baldree yet, I didn't get the whimsical feel of Jake as he is now proclaimed to be. In book one, we are told Jake is a college grad but instead sounds more like a recalcitrant high school student reluctant to begin adulting before and after the transition.
I understand that things happen, and the change in the narrator is unavoidable—unfortunately, Mr. Pirhalla has an even less whimsical sounding voice. Perhaps it would have been less jarring if the writer had made some adjustments to the audio version that would have made the vocal changes a part of the narrative. After all, Jake shifted worlds and time. Also, I needed to listen to this volume at a faster-than-normal speed to keep the story from feeling dragged.
The changes in powers also seemed contradictory in light of a lack of explanation. Perhaps, the explanations were in the humdrum parts and I just missed it. I did notice that Jake seems to have changed his mind about the Devine Fruit - originally he describes it as tasting good but then burning and causing pain. Later, the fruit is said to taste bad and is uncomfortable to eat.
Lastly, in this second installment, the writing has more repetition than the first making it less interesting.
It is a valiant effort from MR Pirhalla.
I am a finisher, so I will still listen to book 3 (hoping for the best.

I am so appreciative that this is not one of those books made long with inane repetition. The writer demonstrates not only respect for the readers imagination but also our intelligence.

Too Wordy
Revisado: 10-25-24
This absolutely did not need to be so long. Way too much repetition. Over embellishment of everything.
There are details from the first book that got changed in the 5th or 6th book. Verbosity is like lying... it's hard to keep track of what you already said.
I did have to remind myself that Alex is a teenager. Sadly, his memory was like my octogenarian mom who is status post a traumatic brain injury.

Less is More
Revisado: 07-25-24
Author says this presentation is of the manuscript as it was originally presented from the vault (attic).
Sadly editing adds more than needed or removes what should be left or overlooks what whoukd be removed.
I was enthralled for the majority of this offering. I get easily frustrated by failed attempts to add suspense with verbosity.
I was only tempted to fast forward a couple of time.
A delightful tale. I am looking forward to more from Ellis.
