it's still hard listening to the ai narating.very flat affect still mixes male and female voice. mispronounced words such as bow which can mess with a sentence.

the ai reading is easy to understand. however it does lack affect . it sometimes switches to female voice but it is male character. since this is early development hopefully ai will improve a lot more

time frame

Like a quick beach read but no beach just a vampire trying to make his accounting business work...

I don't often leave reviews but I think this one should be. The pace is great and the different characters are well done by the narrator. Here is a spoil free simple explication:

A man who is your typical number cruncher accountant suddenly finds himself turned as a vampire. That alone is enough to deal with but he is excited to find all non-humans ( parahumans) need their taxes and books done just like the rest of us.

The best parts are that instead of one long story there are several small stories in one book( seems to be an avg of 4). This is great after just finishing a 32 hour long saga book. I can cleanse my palete with one story then dive into another long book.

The second great part is that almost each story is self contained and can "stand alone" but each story might be referred to a tiny bit in a later story.

There are "curse words" if that bothers you but overall the lack of sheer gore, over the top romance, or anything a child should possibly avoid are not in this series. So I recommend for all ages just a curse word or so isn't bad.

I am now in book 5 and if I jump back in I am instantly there no need to try and remember who is who and what is going on. This is a great series that grows on you.

read the series for a break

If you like mystery and crime but need it a bit toned down( not overly loud or violent) this book series was a good break to cleanse my pallette after an epic Sci-fi series and needing something almost relaxing as the real world news and events were enough of a roller coaster. Think someone like the amazing butler to batman telling you his procedures and steps to a case/ investigation that is eventful and more complex than Murder She Wrote. By book 2 I found myself wondering "I wonder how DC Smith's day is going?" and jumping out of a true crime series to slow a bit and catch up with DC. Man I hope this review makes sense 😊.

Great for any age group this series will grow on you

Hello this is an amazing collection. I won't write about the book as a review but rather let readers know this contains book 1 and 2 and one additional story. I owned the first 2 so felt silly when i didn't read the description and just clicked it because it said book 3. Sooo i was hoping for a huge new story. For those fans of amazing books that let you escape awhile i highly this publushers pack.

been trapped on a roadtrip with a relative?

Been trapped on a roadtrip with a relative going to store after store looking for that particular brand of toothpaste they can't find anywhere? Back and forth looking sort of wondering if you can jump out of the car? 5 hrs in and though not toothpaste I did want to jump. why did I continue listening? Well it actually became some sort of self inflicted torture...waiting for something besides boat.search.boat.search...

I would give it one star but I reserve that for the rare books that literally you return to audible the next day.

Maybe it was to simplistic. Maybe after hour 7 the whole thing changes. I'm not going to see.
