Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Narration is lacking
Revisado: 12-27-24
The AI generated narration ruins an otherwise good story. It is monotone and has an odd cadence.

Great read

I enjoyed the characters of Three Pines very much. The timeliness of the storyline was intriguing and made me think about my own actions/ reactions along with those of the characters. I appreciate the thoughtful writing of Louise Penny. I secretly wish I could visit Three Pines and spend a few days with everyone that lives there.

Historia
On their first night in Paris, the Gamaches gather as a family for a bistro dinner with Armand’s godfather, the billionaire Stephen Horowitz. But an attempt on the elderly man’s life sends Armand, his wife, Reine-Marie, and his former second-in-command at the Sûreté, Jean-Guy Beauvoir, from the top of the Tour d’Eiffel, to the bowels of the Paris Archives, from luxury hotels to odd, coded works of art. It sends them deep into the secrets Armand’s godfather has kept for decades.

One of the best in mystery writer
Revisado: 11-13-20
I truly enjoyed the book. I have read all the Three Pines mysteries. The characters and their stories, when entwined in a mystery, always leave me fully satisfied and wanting more. When I finish the story I wonder what the next one will bring us. This story contained ample history, politics, science, on location depiction of Paris ( a favorite city of mine), and a sanguine depiction of big business. Well done.
