Intimate and Beautiful
Revisado: 12-12-19
The story is lovely, sometimes humorous, and endearingly touching. I’m inspired to learn more about elephants and am betting that this book was a spark for the changes to Barnum and Bailey Circus suspending the use of elephants.
But it’s a human story. A very touching one. With elephants.

Historia
From the acclaimed author of Her Every Fear and The Kind Worth Killing comes a diabolically clever tale of obsession, revenge, and cold-blooded murder - a sly and brilliant guessing game of a novel. Harry Ackerson has always considered his stepmother, Alice, to be sexy and beautiful in an "otherworldly" way. She has always been kind and attentive, if a little aloof in the last few years. Days before his college graduation, Alice calls with shocking news. His father is dead, and the police think it's suicide.

If your expectations are right..
Revisado: 05-04-19
Fun puzzle. If you’re expecting literature, you’ll be disappointed. Some of the dialogue was laughable, but maybe that was the performance of it. I listened to all of it and enjoyed the journey.

Needs another round of editing but I had fun
Revisado: 04-27-19
This book was a good story but felt like it wasn’t edited down enough. Extra words, over-obvious statements, repeating statements..
But it was interesting enough that I listened all the way through.
The narrating sounded sometimes like a robot. Slow with inflections in odd places. And flat. It needs a rework.
Fun but not a literary prize winner...yet!

Historia
Kat Grant and Alice Campbell have a friendship forged in shared confidences and long lunches lubricated by expensive wine. Though they're very different women - the artsy socialite and the struggling suburbanite - they're each other's rocks. But even rocks crumble under pressure. Like when Kat's financier husband, Howard, plunges to his death from the second-floor balcony of their South Florida mansion. Howard was a jerk, a drunk, a bully, and, police say, a murder victim. The questions begin piling up.

Three minutes. That's all it takes for Meredith's entire world to fall apart when she watches the videotape of her four-year-old self with Becca, the mother she's never known. Can there be any truth in the strange and dangerous story her mother forced her to tell on camera? The search for answers leads Meredith to Darkwater Pool, the scene of the murder of a young woman, Cara, over 30 years ago. What could possibly be the link between her mother and the victim? The problem is, she's not the only one looking....

Great twist and turning- Odd editing
Revisado: 02-22-18
Loved the twists and turns of this story. I’ll be looking for more from this author. Went through it in 2-3 days.
The reading was great, but the editing was super-choppy. Often, I thought my headsets were acting up, but it was the cuts in odd places. Feels like it was cut and pasted together.

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. Predictable but fun
Revisado: 02-03-18
The first narrator of this sounded robotic. Some of the lines sounded really trite, and I can’t decide if It was the writing or the narrating.
In spite of that, I kept listening. Kinda fun.

Great Story-Wassup with the reading?
Revisado: 04-15-17
This story is clever, twisting and smart. But I was constantly confused by the audio being clipped and inserted with somebody else reading, with a fuzzy background. Very distracting and would throw me off...trying to figure out which character is reading.

Good story, very close to her others
Revisado: 06-28-16
It's always a fun ride with a Chamberlain book. There were many elements of this one that felt the same as Silent Sister. (Whether that bugs you is your choice.)
There are two male characters, one in the beginning and one at the end, who sound like a George W Bush imitation by Will Farrell and it kept cracking me up. But they were serious characters...not sure I was supposed to laugh.
