Great narrator and great story!
Revisado: 03-24-25
A couple of twists in the plot were not necessarily surprising but made for a good story overall. Would highly recommend!

Historia
I want to live my life in peace for a little while as opposed to pieces. I don’t know who I have to bribe to catch a break, but I’m willing to pay the big bucks. Apparently, no one got the memo. Midlife is one messy ride. Fine. I’m off to Lexington, Kentucky to find a self-proclaimed dragon who sports a mullet, beer belly and delusions of Immortal grandeur. This time he’s gone too far. He’s messed with me and mine for the last time. The way to end a dragon is to remove his tail. We thought we had. A tail is in the back. Right? Wrong. So, so wrong.

What a waste of time …
Revisado: 08-16-24
This particular author can drag out a particular scene longer than should be legally allowed. This eleven part story (and soon to be twelve part) seems to rely on profanity to fill in where there is not enough plot to cover this half-book. The last 5 books in this series have been written in such a way that it could have been one volume. The author has run out of things to fill in the plot. The one redeeming feature is that the narration has been good. I will not bother with purchasing the last volume. Ugh!!

Was horrible. I wish I had read the book instead of listening to it. Cute book but I doubt I will ever listen to another book narrated in this manner.

Great Listen!
Revisado: 03-26-24
First, the narrator is superb! I would listen to Marguerite Gavin read a phone book! Although she occasionally mispronounces a name (Borgia, an Italian family of poisoners, should be pronounced Borrja with the R trilled), it happens so few and far between that is barely noticeable. Even without the excellent narration, this book stands up by itself. It is well written, funny, and a delight. Thank you for this book! Will there be a sequel? We certainly hope so!

I’m not a cop. I’m a soon-to-be-ex-wife, and former full-time mom who works part-time at the local yarn store. The biggest mystery I’ve ever solved is finding a missing knitting needle tucked behind my ear after spending all morning looking for it. Someone in Harmony Lake is trying to stitch me up for murder.

The narration was HORRIBLE!
Revisado: 02-06-24
I waded through this because I was hoping the story was going to overcome the narration but I was sadly mistaken. Ugh! I will not be listening to the other titles in this collection. It was too much like torture. Connie sounded like a weird Grandmama from the 60’s sitcom. The men all sounded the same and the other women sounded like munchkin children. This could have been a very good audio book but the narrator killed it.

Vey dull and not an easy listen …
Revisado: 01-25-24
This was hard for me to hang with because of the tedium of not only the plot but the narrator as well. SO much description of every day things like feeding a cat, getting ready for shopping, what the neighbors are doing or not doing, etc. The whole story could have easily and just as effectively be told in half the time. It was all very dry and the main character was a snob about everything! Ugh! I will not be listening to anything else by this author.

Revisado: 09-21-23
I really did not know if I was going to be able to hang with this book or not. While it started off, slowly, it quickly picked up, and I found it both amusing and engaging. The narrator is very talented, and I could quickly tell which character was which. A fun listen!

Historia
Recently engaged and deeply ensconced in her third year of surgical residency in Chicago, Emily Hartford gets a shock when she is called home to Freeport, Michigan, the small town she fled a decade ago after the death of her mother. Her estranged father, the local medical examiner, has had a massive heart attack. At the hospital, she finds her father in near total denial of the seriousness of his condition. He insists that the best thing Emily can do to help him is to take on the autopsy of a senator's teen daughter whose sudden, unexplained death has just rocked the sleepy town.

I was hoping for so much more and drudged through the narration which was painfully slow and without inflection. Ugh! I rated it a little high at three stars. Would love to listen to the next one but I just cannot!

Historia
The year is 1910, and in the small and seemingly sleepy English municipality of Haxford, there’s a new chief police inspector. At first, the dapper and unflappable Pignon Scorbion strikes something of an odd figure among the locals, who don’t see a need for such an exacting investigator. But it isn’t long before Haxford finds itself very much in need of a detective. Luckily, Scorbion and the local barber are old acquaintances, and the barbershop employs a cast of memorable characters who are nothing less than enthralled by the enigmatic new chief police inspector.

Interesting but …

This narrator was a bit hard to listen to and some of his characters sounded alike. Many were hard to distinguish. The first teo stories were good but the third one about the tomahawk had to many characters and was somewhat confusing.

The best for last …
Revisado: 04-25-23
I just finished the last book in this series and I have enjoyed all of them but this one takes the cake! Great story with a huge twist at the end. I do wish the same narrator could have been used but you can’t have everything you want. I will probably re-listen to most of them. Monica Ferris, you make me want to go to Excelsior to find Betsy!
