i took me about 3 days to finish this tale. it is a little different but still a lot of carrying on conversations with himself and those he has lost!
read the book! james reece. sweet Lord we need more men like him in this crazy world we live in!

i am just used to a narrator the caliber of of ray porter reading the tale. i think it would make the experience so much better. but this is the second of the trilogy and i am about to go to number three so that says something! i

of all Liane’s books this is the best! i enjoyed every second. i could not even find a character to have negative feelings for.
if course the performance by Caroline is just sublime. id i see something she has narrated i will give it a whirl because she is so talented!
this story has so many twists and turns and had me literally laughing out loud at times.
if you are looking around and reading reviews i give this a rating of 100%. i hope you listen so you can fall in love with Joy as i have!

This family is horrible!

The book was recommended to me by a long time friend. At first i was thinking, a hit piece. Trying to blame the opioid problem on one family. Wow, was i wrong! “empire of pain” has given me an insight into the problem like nothing i have seen read or heard before. If you are a fan of documentaries and would like to know how money and power have the ability to allow an entire family get away with murder…i highly recommend this book.

wow. if you have seen the mini series

but want a deeper dive … pick this novel up. the story is so interesting. the depth of the characters is delicious. just a little peek into the world of how the beautiful cathedrals of the middle ages were built. the tales of the buildings are just as fantastic as the lives of the people. thanks ken follett for breaking out of your usual format and sharing a little insight into the minds of those brilliant men and women of such a very long time ago.

wow. how could this book be written by the same author as the goldfinch? no resolution to many questions. in my opinion, do not waste your time.
