I've always loved a Debbie Macomber story and this one is no exception. the content of these two books is excellent as always.

I struggled with the first book because of the narrator's voice and her dramatization of the different characters via her voice changes. As time went on though she seemed to get better and more comfortable and so did I.

Soon after that I got comfortable with listening to the story and I couldn't wait to hear all of it until the end.

The second story was equally good because it connected to the first one, so you already knew some of the characters and grew to love them or disrespect them whichever the case may be for that particular character.

I enjoyed some of the twists in the story as I was trying to predict the outcome.

Stick with the narrator and give her time to grow on you and you will really enjoy the stories and want more and see what else was happening in Texas.

I can't wait for volume 2!

I was into this at first but the characters became ridiculous. So I stopped listening.

Debbie Macomber is a great writer and I I always thought a book by her was a safe purchase. Mary Jo is so immature and in three years she never learns to trust her love. The narrator's voice is terrible. In the beginning she has anger in her voice for every character. Very depressing to listen to her. I'm returning this book.

Like many books this was a slow start for me but then I couldn't wait to read until the end. Narrator was excellent, great tone and inflection.

I enjoyed the story and the ending when the protagonist realized her value and was willing to accept a loss to reclaim what she loved.

This book was a joy to read. It conjures up images and thoughts of real love. We can make our own happiness but real joy is in our spirit.

This book was recommended to me by so many people so I thought I had have it. I was so wrong, I like when rules are written out in order and the reasons supporting them are also written in like manner. I could not get beyond the first reason, It rambles so far off course and then comes back to what I figured was a solid theme to only be infused with more ramblings. At first I thought I could follow the logic but it petered out in no time and we were back to the confusing 'explanation' that was senseless.

Since then I went back to read other reviews that had the same gut feeling I did and some who thought it was based on Biblical Principals. I can't even clearly see those. I wanted to but they weren't strong or evident. I have read a far simpler book that has better grounding in the Bible and makes more sense and is easy to apply to my life.

I hope I'm able to return this.

The writers voice didn't win me over either.

I couldn't wait to know this story. Chrissy wasn't the only one who matured, Susannah did too. And I think I did and I read this story. Maybe she'll write a sequel.
