Historia
William Strauss and Neil Howe posit the history of America as a succession of generational biographies, beginning in 1584 and encompassing every one through the children of today. Their bold theory is that each generation belongs to one of four types and that these types repeat sequentially in a fixed pattern. The vision of Generations allows us to plot a recurring cycle in American history - a cycle of spiritual awakenings and secular crises - from the founding colonists through the present day and well into this millennium.

Painfully boring, though good information included
Revisado: 04-23-25
This book has a lot of information about all of the US generations, and there is a lot of good information in it. The problem is that the writing style/narration pretty much just lists off facts and doesn't do much to help tie everything together.
After listening to the full book, it's hard to think of what the biggest takeaways are. I mostly have a collection of random facts and the basic summary of the fourth turning that many political commentators have talked about.

The Carbon Hoax: A Story- Ruling the World with a Big Lie is the historical background of the Global Warming movement launched in 1968 as a plan to create fear and panic, worldwide. In the words of a founding member of The Club of Rome, Sir Alexander King, this group of wealthy Elites decided “the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.” “Would fit the bill,” were the key words that caught the author’s attention when The Club of Rome first published its manifesto in 1972, with a plan to create a One World Order with nations voluntarily ...

Some decent facts, but not persuasive
Revisado: 03-29-25
If you already agree with the thesis of the book, you will probably learn a couple of more useful pieces of context to make you feel more informed. However, if you don't believe it or want to provide a useful resource to persuade someone you know, this book is not going to be satisfactory.
It also time locks itself by making such a large focus on Trump's elections in 2016 and 2020. It's obvious that the author is a standard boomer con, and he uses a lot of this short book to make broader political points and pick on various specific politicians on the left.

Here is a gripping account of the major postwar trial of the Nazi hierarchy in World War II. The Nuremberg Trial brilliantly recreates the trial proceedings and offers a reasoned, often profound examination of the processes that created international law. From the whimpering of Kaltenbrunner and Ribbentrop on the stand to the icy coolness of Goering, each participant is vividly drawn.

Solid history, but narrator and writing style make it tough to sink in
Revisado: 03-19-25
There is a lot of good info in the book, but unfortunately the narrator will put you to sleep and make you glaze over important info that you need to play back to catch. The writing style doesn't always do well to tell a compelling story that you can't stop listening to either.

Covers a lot, though it leaves more to be desired
Revisado: 03-07-25
For a book that's nearly 60 hours long and covers so much, you will often need to pause it and look up certain events to get a better basic understanding, as the author sometimes breezes through key details. I learned a lot from this book, though that comes with a big caveat.
Ideally, a historic book on nazi Germany would provide their perspective to help you understand why and how they did what they did. It's clear that the author holds a great dislike for the main subjects of the book, and this leads to him making it seem like they're just crazy bigots. This is completely unhelpful in attempting to learn from history and identify patterns in present day and other historical periods.
This book is considered a Bible on the topic in Allied nations, and the saying "history is written by the victors" applies here. It's useful to hear this detailed history from the Victor's perspective, but this is NOT a complete history that leaves the reader understanding all necessary basic details.

20 minutes of useful content, tons of useless garbage
Revisado: 03-04-25
There are some useful stories from actual births showing what often goes wrong and what can be done to make things go right.
Beyond that, the author is unbearable to listen to as she constantly contradicts herself, shows herself to be a hypocrite, and goes back and forth from talking about how she's a victim/survivor to how she's so privileged because she's white.
There is a constant pattern of her talking about how she'd correct people for how they view birthing practices to demeaning when people push back on her. She uses at least a quarter of the book to lecture on woke grievance studies and make points that contradict herself.
After talking about how badly she was treated, she claims that when non white people get treated bad, it's racism. The most horrifying story in the book happened to a white woman, but she didn't make that connection. She also reads out stats showing that Latinas have better survival rates than white women, then argues that white supremacy is responsible for the difference in rates by race.
As you'd figure, the author constantly refers to mothers as "birthing persons". The book is not a useful guide for pregnant women, but rather a collection of personal stories sandwiched by woke university racial theory.
The only redeeming thing about this book is that it points out a real problem with hospital births that is counter establishment. As others catch on and put together their own books and guides, this will quickly fall to the bottom of the pile.

A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

Decent book, but realistically just her cover letter for a cabinet role
Revisado: 02-22-25
This book is mostly just Tulsi ripping apart the Democrat party with minimal criticism of Republicans, especially the MAGA wing. I happen to agree with a lot of it and know most of the stories that she references, but unfortunately her references often don't go into much detail, making this book less useful as a persuasive tool.
If I were looking for a book to convince a Democrat friend to reconsider, I wouldn't choose this one even though it had great potential given Tulsi's background.
I still give it 4 stars since she does reference a lot of good examples in recent history and tells some stories that I hadn't heard before and found interesting.

Great History Book in Addition To its review of the titular topic
Revisado: 02-15-25
I expected this book to just be a super deep dive into the origins of covid and how top scientists have attempted a cover up. In addition to it doing a great job of this, RFK also goes into great historical depth about mad scientists studying bioweapons (Nuremberg and Japan). I learned a lot more than I thought I would from this book.

Excellent Business Book
Revisado: 02-08-25
The title makes it sound like it could be more of a memior or biography, but the book itself is a very detailed explanation of pricing strategies and how they can succeed or fail. This book is full of essential business knowledge that is often overlooked or given too little consideration. Any company that hosts a book club should select this title and brainstorm changes based on what they learn.
