Historia
When The Far Pavilions was first published 19 years ago, it moved the critic Edmund Fuller to write this: "Were Miss Kaye to produce no other book, The Far Pavilions might stand as a lasting accomplishment in a single work comparable to Margaret Mitchell's achievement in Gond With the Wind." From its beginning in the foothills of the towering Himalayas, M. M. Kaye's masterwork is a vast, rich, and vibrant tapestry of love and war that ranks with the greatest panoramic sagas of modern fiction.

Best 48+ hours I’ve spent on Audible!
Revisado: 03-31-24
This book is incredible and absolutely the best use of my Audible credit I can think of. An amazing, captivating story of cross-cultural living & understanding, love, war, intrigue… this book has it all. The narrator was so fun and engaging, creating different voices and accents for each of the diverse characters (I thought for a long time that there was a separate female narrator before realizing it was him!). I haven’t stopped talking about this book since its beginning, and now want to hear it a second time. This book was one of the best articulations of the “third culture” experience I’ve yet to read, and also one of the best articulated fiction books portraying an accurate understanding of honor/shame-eastern cultures. If you’re looking to add an excellent book to your list, and wanting a good audible experience that gets your best bang for your credit, this is it!

Our fluffy, fearless young detectives are back out sleuthing, because there's a new cage in the yard, and the Chicken Squad is determined to figure out just who this new addition is. Because whatever it is, it's definitely up to no good. So, equipped with the latest surveillance gear - which apparently includes copious amounts of marshmallows - the chicks venture into the wild to get answers. Let's just hope they can beat that giant rain cloud that's closing in - because everyone knows that chickens can't swim!

I don’t know if Audible can or will ever do better than this. It was absolutely excellent. I couldn’t stop listening - such a fantastic story, and the reader was so good and easy to listen to. I found this to be the best Audible has to offer and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it.

Historia
Once Leota's garden was a place of beauty - where flowers bloomed and hope thrived. It was her refuge from the deep wounds inflicted by a devastating war, her sanctuary where she knelt before a loving God and prayed for the children who couldn't understand her silent sacrifices. At 83, Leota is alone; her beloved garden is in ruins. All her efforts to reconcile with her adult children have been fruitless. She voices her despair to a loving Father, her only friend. And God brings a wind of change through unlikely means....

Encouraging & lovely story but character gaps
Revisado: 10-02-23
I really enjoyed this story and thought the narrator was pleasing to listen to. As always with Francine Rivers, this book was spiritually edifying and encouraging. That said, there were things that were very unbelievable about the characters.
