It just got super boring super fast

The story is a grind. Character is not interesting . Tired of the stat dumps and the plot moved at a snails paste . First one was ok this just makes me sleep now.

Main character is pointless

Author hates the main character he write him and when Kara came through he wished that she was the main character so he abuses, makes fun , belittled and makes sure he goes neither in hinting g. Also for a paladin who is the chosen of the gods the paladins are worthless. They only have 1 ability and that is not to age. But put 20 dark ones against them and they are dead or even 1 person with a crossbow. Makes you wonder how they survive this long. The mages = completely worthless cast a spell and you are doomed cuz the feel ones will catch you. Now if that is the case why bring the damn whiny elf with you. She is worthless other than acting like someone on their period every 5 minutes. The main mage is a clown. Folk is worthless. It could have been good but it’s just not I many stray straws and this is where the camel back breaks.

The Mc has beaten wife syndrome lets his people treat him like crap all the time and sucks it up. Also most of the races out there are apparently racist so he bills them. When his people treat him worse he sucks it up. Meh story till mercy opens her mouth after that I just stopped.

Too fake even doe fiction

There is only so much you can put aside from realism even when reading fiction. For a person in the military the main character is completely unrealistic. The story is predictable I listens up yo chapter 7 then deleted the book. His other books are better. Not sure if this is a earlier work but it is what the dog leaves behind when he is done with the meal.

Prologue ???

I could not get past the prologue it jumps and introduces new characters time lapses and it’s hard for you to get into it. Returning this title might be good but I just could not get into it .

The story lost its structure it was just a slow and boring grind. Only reason I got to the end was the narrator.

Bland and lazy

Very lazy writing and bland and boring narration. One tenth of 998 gold is not 10 coppers 998/*.1 = 99.8 gold. That is as far as I got it might get better but I won’t be finding out.

19 hours of fluff

He is writing to fill a book not to tell a story. There will be 100 more books in this series as the author seems to want to put out as much fluff to sell before he moves the story along. Which is fine but move the freaking story to the hunted place then add other objectives rather than stalling out the progress.
