Historia
Lonnie Skyeborne is a liar and proud of it. From the moment she was born, her mother sensed there was something extraordinary about her daughter and taught her to never reveal the truth of who she is. But now, Lonnie is alone and trapped in her own web of lies. She is the queen in name only, and afraid to trust anyone, even the princes who claim to be her allies. She still has four deadly hunts to complete before she can escape her bargains with the Everlast family, and meanwhile war is looming in the country of Elsewhere.

The only problem I have with such intricate tale-spinning is that it will likely take a while until the next book from this author. Please buy these books so she can quit any day job taking up valuable writing time!

Historia
Fae games will change you . . . but their love will ruin you. At least, that's what my mother told me. My mother had three rules: 1. Never make a bargain with a fairy. 2. Never enter the Waywoods on a hunting day. 3. Never give the High Fae princes a reason to notice you. But even when I followed all the rules, the royal fae still took my family from me. So in one night I broke all three rules, and brought the kingdom to their knees.

An unexpected fantasy treasure
Revisado: 06-16-24
I try new-to-me authors when Audible has a big sale. I end up discarding more than 2/3, unfinished. This book was so good, I stopped to buy the sequel when only part way through.
The world-building was layered, the characters complex and the narration added to the experience rather than detracting or distracting. This author has won a place on my must-buy list.

Historia
Someone is killing werewolves. At least, that's the way Vincent Van Gogh tells it when he shows up at Mark Abernathy's art gallery seeking protection. For gallery assistant and art history addict Hanna Harvey, meeting Van Gogh is a dream come true—until death follows the troubled artist to town and Hanna becomes the murderer's next target. When Alpha Wereboss Mark Abernathy goes missing, a new wave of murders draws the attention of drool-worthy Detective James Morrison, further complicating Hanna's epic dating dilemma.

Frothy, twisty fun!
Revisado: 04-26-24
It's like potato chips; after the first book in this series, I've been under a compulsion to keep going. So far at least, there haven't been any dark truths about human nature or insights into the relationship between good and evil. That is absolutely fine with me. There are plenty of books dealing with profundity; if that is what you crave, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a delightful way to entertain yourself, stop here. You'll be glad you did.

Being the only lawyer in small-town Papillon, Quaid is pretty sure he’s seen everything. After all, he was once asked to sue an alligator for defamation of character. He’s prepared for anything the town can throw at him, until he encounters Jayna Cardet. She’s gorgeous, smart, funny, and unlike any woman he’s met before … Except he has.

Fun!
Revisado: 03-26-24
I've come to expect certain things from Lexi Blake's stories: 3-dimenentional characters I can care about, believable situations and problems, enough quirks to entertain, and finally, humor.
This book has all of these qualities, but the most important thing to know is that when the book ended, I was grinning.

I want to meet these characters!
Revisado: 08-17-23
Each book in this series keeps adding new characters I'd love to meet! You know how sometimes you get just a glimpse of some crazy drama, and you say, "I want to be a fly on the wall to watch what's next..."? This is that chance, to watch and listen to how the chaos happens. I particularly appreciate the way the author juxtaposes the absurd and the mundane. Despite the serious issues woven through these stories, I often find myself grinning as I listen. I'm hoping for more of this author's audiobooks!

A frothy Royal States treat!
Revisado: 07-19-23
The problem I had with this book is that it ended far too soon. I was totally caught up in the unfolding events. Although the book completed one story arc, I want to know what happens next, with the kingdom's political shakeup, and with the next generation, of both humans and horses! I'm very glad there are already several other books set in this world. I'm going to have to relisten to some of the earlier stories to keep from exploding with impatience waiting for the next piece of the Royal States mosaic!

Historia
As a professional thief, Esme Bellerose's daylong job interview was going well: She'd come through most of it with only a black eye, bloody lip, broken wrist, a few cracked ribs, and talon marks from a ruby-throated dragon - but at least she wasn't missing any pieces. And if she could only survive until the five o'clock hour, she'd land the job that was every mystic thief's dream: employment at SPL Inc. But the head of SPL, Elric Ostergaard, has other plans, and he's put one additional task on Esme's job application, which must be completed before he'll hire her.

Worth sticking through slow start
Revisado: 05-06-23
I wasn't sure if I'd made a bad choice with this book, as it seemed to wobble getting the main character launched. I am so glad I stayed with it!
At this point my only regret is that there doesn't seem to be a sequel. I'll be checking more thoroughly when I finish writing this as the story ends, not on a cliffhanger, but with lots of the components queued up for the brisk start of another solid story.

Not their best, but well worth a credit
Revisado: 05-27-22
The story was engaging, and the worldbuilding provided a believable backdrop for the unfolding events. Maya's internal development was center stage, so understandably it was the most carefully crafted. Unfortunately, the experiences and motivations of some secondary characters (notably one unexpectedly part of the team,) remained somewhat murky. Overall, given the number of characters involved, the authors do a good job of keeping them distinct and interesting. I do wish they'd sprinkle in a little of the 'Beyond' stories' heat. ;-)
Nitpicking - the narration was fumbled several times with mispronunciations or the substitution of similar sounding words with very different meanings. It didn't happen often, but I get yanked right out of the story when it does. Overall, an easy 4 out of 5.

"Just put it in a little". Seriously?!?!
Revisado: 08-18-21
Male MC vows not to take female MC's virginity, in spite of threat to both their lives for failing to do so. Then he chases her away because of his broken vow, leaving her defenseless against the serious danger she'd fled. Female MC wavers between between being brave and dtermined, to being a virginal ninnyhammer. "It's not having sex if you don't move back and forth". Again, despite threats of being fed to a fish with foot-long, needle sharp teeth. Too stupid to live? Maybe. Too stupid to read? Definitely. if you like this type of book, read one of the author's others.

Cinderella rip-off
Revisado: 07-12-21
The narrator added syllables to some wards, subtracted them from others. The authors made up new words at will, or substituted similar sounding ones. The scenes needed to be edited loose from all of the redundant detritus.
I won*t read anything else by these authors!
