Historia
For a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights brought peace and order to the Galactic Republic, aided by their connection to the mystical energy field known as the Force. But they were betrayed - and the entire galaxy has paid the price. It is the Age of the Empire. Now Emperor Palpatine, once Chancellor of the Republic and secretly a Sith follower of the dark side of the Force, has brought his own peace and order to the galaxy. Peace through brutal repression, and order through increasing control of his subjects’ lives.

The New Era of Star Wars Begins HERE!

Solid origin story
Revisado: 02-12-25
This was really well done both for Hera and Kanan as well as for the Empire as a foe and the tertiary character development. Great add to the universe and not dripping with any modern social dogma like so many of the newer Disney era titles. Recommend for real Star Wars fans

Historia
The universal symbol of the Christian faith is neither a crib nor a manger, but a gruesome cross. Yet many people are unclear about its meaning, and cannot understand why Christ had to die. In this magisterial and best-selling book, John Stott explains the significance of Christ's cross and answers the objections commonly brought against biblical teaching on the atonement.

Must read for Christians to truly understand, evangelize or teach our faith
Revisado: 11-17-23
Best theological book I’ve read. Good scripture references. A “Paul-esque” approach to outlining an argument, asking questions and answering them. Poses trade offs and assumptions and opinions clearly. An honest, ethical and impactful presentation of the argument that to be a Christian is to understand what God did on the cross.

Historia
This is a study of how intellectuals as a class affect modern societies by shaping the climate of opinion in which official policies develop, on issues ranging from economics to law to war and peace. You will hear a withering and clear-eyed critique about (but not for) intellectuals that explores their impact on public opinion, policy, and society at large.

Should be required reading in high school
Revisado: 03-04-21
This fundamentally teaches how to think objectively and shows how people who choose to think otherwise have profound, usually negative, impacts on their societies. Understanding how people are and how they overcome internet flaws is vastly more beneficial to humanity than assuming perfection and castigating those nonconforming to a particular, ever changing, brand of perfection. Beautifully researched and written as always by Mr. Sowell. Truly one of the greatest minds of our generation.

Historia
Sent by the French government to examine the American prison system, Alexis de Tocqueville spent nine months touring the United States between 1831 and 1832. However, fascinated by the success of America's democratic system, de Tocqueville took advantage of his stay to examine the country's foundations and glean ideas that might rescue his homeland from the manacles of social inequality. He leaves no stone unturned, exploring each branch of government, the constitution, economics, religion, race, the judiciary, laws, principles, education, culture, and views on wealth and poverty.

Narrator killed it for me
Revisado: 02-22-21
I returned this book. Found myself nodding off or losing focus because of the narrators delivery. De Tocqueville’s language is intense to start with but the narrator just didn’t do it for me. YMMV

Historia
Ex-military policeman Jack Reacher is a drifter. He’s just passing through Margrave, Georgia, and in less than an hour, he’s arrested for murder. Not much of a welcome. All Reacher knows is that he didn’t kill anybody. At least not here. Not lately. But he doesn’t stand a chance of convincing anyone. Not in Margrave, Georgia. Not a chance in hell.
