Historia
With the armies of the enemy smashed at the final battle for the desert port city, the Rangers return to their primary mission to do what they do best: eliminate a high-value target with extreme violence of action deep inside hostile territory. Failure is not an option—even if that target is a ten-thousand-year-old undead sorcerer of incredible power surrounded by dark, deadly cabals and savage monsters of myth and fable that are all too real.

40 minutes of garbage after the book ends
Revisado: 07-09-24
These authors are at it again... FFS they did the same thing with Galaxy's edge except there it was sometimes 2 hours of authors yapping after the book ends. I'm done buying from them.
this book was alright otherwise. more of nothing actually happening. like usual.

Historia
It's always idyllic in the village until the landlord comes to call. Because the landlord is an Ogre. And Ogres rule the world, with their size and strength and appetites. It's always been that way. It's the natural order of the world. And they only eat people sometimes. But when the headman's son, Torquell, dares lift his hand against the landlord's son, he sets himself on a path to learn the terrible truth about the Ogres, and about the dark sciences that ensured their rule.

Absolutely unacceptable behavior AGAIN
Revisado: 12-02-22
I'm done paying for these guys to put 2 hours of garbage discussion at the end of the ever-shortening book.
I'm just going to pirate the next one. I figure the "special discussions from the authors" that they've added and wasted over the past years will more than make up for the amount of listening time that the next book will cover.
Absolutely ridiculous that this is allowed to continue, just to make the book look like a regular length novel.
Amazing performance from Mr. Bray, as usual.
What little story exists here is up to snuff, don't let my anger and review dissuade you if you're ok with a very short book.

Historia
Arkady and Boris Strugatsky are widely considered the greatest of Russian science fiction masters, yet the novel they worked hardest on, the one that was their own favorite and that listeners worldwide have acclaimed their magnum opus, has never before been published in English. The Doomed City was so politically risky that the Strugatskys kept its existence a secret even from their closest friends for 16 years. It was only published in Russia during perestroika in the late 1980s, the last of their works to see publication.

Another skippable money grab.
Revisado: 04-30-22
Move the story along already, here's the important bits:
SPOILERS
The first chapter has Ford meetup with basically all his friends, including Macafee (spelling... sorry)
the entire rest of the book is a little bit of Masters running from stuff but mostly Chuun commanding a Legion invasion of Kima.
then the Epilogue is Masters is caught by the Donks and is getting cut to pieces. The End.
Seriously, I'm done buying these books if we don't start getting to some conclusions. It's possible to finish some plot lines and then start new ones you know?
As always, Voice acting is amazing. I'm just disappointed we still don't get any answers on anything.

Ok, better than book 3, but not books 1 and 2.
Revisado: 02-13-20
a huge improvement over book 3. Actually ties into books 1 and 2 with character overlap.
Good story, but I didn't like the pacing, especially the climax, it all felt way too rushed, and threw too much information about how the plot was changing at us. It felt like maybe Clines is trying to just push the plot so fast that maybe we wouldn't question it at all, but I caught myself constantly skipping back to re-hear a section, only to eventually admit that it wasn't just me that didn't understand, that part maybe didn't have a good explanation.
Still, worth a listen if you like any of the first 3 books.
I'm not disappointed, and so feel like it was worth my credit for this month.

OK steampunk story. Ending felt rather rushed.
Revisado: 11-25-19
decent story, alright character development, pretty good action sequences, and better than average narrator performance.
The ending felt rather quickly paced and there seemed to be no real reason for it to end where it did when there's clearly more fighting to be done.
I also felt like the overall motivation of the antagonist was weak and he didn't seem plausible really.
overall an ok story, but not amazing or anything.

Historia
Mattie and Brewster are normal, typical 16-year-old twins who live with their normal, boring parents: Martin and Gwen Banks. Normal and boring, that is, until the day their father's best friend shows up at their house - dressed in what appears to be a bathrobe. The next thing Mattie and Brewster know, their parents are frozen like human statues in their living room, the guy in the bathrobe has vanished, and they need to find answers - fast.

Back in the saddle again!
Revisado: 06-22-19
hurray, Mr. Meyer has seemingly gotten over whatever block lead to the previous two books in the series. I wholeheartedly loved this most recent foray into his magical universe.
I especially loved where the characters made fun of the reviews for the previous book about dragons. there was even some current political humor without pointing any fingers at anyone or blaming any particular side, so anyone can find it funny and hopefully a little enlightening.
well done, I hope to see more of these stories in the future!
(also, Mr. Daniels' performance was top notch as well!)
