Historia
Jane Austen fan Amelia Bennett sneaks away from a dull tour of an English country manor, only to run into a man more dashing than Mr. Darcy himself. About to lose his ancestral home to family debts, charming aristocrat Tom Calder invites his American guest to join him in drinking his way through the estate’s priceless wine collection. But when they wake in his bed the next morning, they’re convinced that in their drunken haze they witnessed a murder. Problem is, the body has vanished and no one believes them.

Absolutely wonderful.
Revisado: 04-12-25
I love this author, so much. The romance is fantastic but the mystery is even better. I found myself gasping at revelations, having made all the wrong earlier assumptions! Any author who can do that to me is on my favorites list.

Historia
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

Remarkable!
Revisado: 04-10-25
This book is well written, unlike so many in the genre. The plot, the characters, everything comes together and the only critique I have is that I wanted more of it. This definitely goes on the list of books to revisit.

Hekla's banter had to get me through some of it, but for the most part I was absolutely riveted. Wonderful writing style (a couple of editing issues but that seems to be the norm lately), excellent character development, and fantastic narration. I bought the second book before even finishing the first.

Historia
As a vampyr who was born to fulfill a prophecy, my life was planned before I was created. I obeyed every rule, and I became the perfect vampyr, but one night changed everything. Rejected by the man who was destined for me, who was supposed to love me forever, I do the only thing I can. I flee into the night, nursing my broken heart. Being a rejected mate corrupts the soul, however, and in this game of Courts and Kings, nobody wins. Nobody except the monsters in the shadows.

Narration was so bad that I could not finish
Revisado: 02-27-25
Both narrators are pretty terrible. However, it was the male narrator who killed it for me. His weird cadence and mumbling make me feel as though he is not used to reading aloud... but then I saw his enormous catalog and became very worried for the sanity of many readers. The only thing I have to say is that at least I didn't pay for this book. I would be screaming for a refund about now.

came for the narration, stayed for everything
Revisado: 02-04-25
I found this because I particularly enjoy the narrator. she is wonderful in whatever she does. however, I was not prepared for the plot and characters to be so dynamic and captivating. unlike many in this genre, the book was very well written. the combination of factors makes this book one of my favorites to date.

Historia
Sasha Pierce hasn’t had a single dream since she was a child...until she accepts a substitute teaching position in the charmingly witchy village of Old Middleton. Her first dream in twenty-five years ought to be enchanting, but her wonder quickly turns to shock when she realizes that it’s not a dream at all, but an entirely different sort of magic. Catapulted through an ancient portal into the fairytale kingdom of Between, Sasha’s astonishment is swiftly upgraded to panic when she accidentally performs a supposedly impossible feat and is declared the True Queen of Between.

Stayed for the plot.
Revisado: 10-17-24
The author has poor word choice and terrible grammar. It is obvious that no one edited the manuscript from some of these errors. The narrator was fair, but she mispronounced words, swallowed the ends of sentences, and had poor inflection a good deal of the time. Sometimes I could not tell if was the author or the narrator garbling meaning. HOWEVER, the plot of these five books is so remarkable that I suffered through the problematic bits gladly. This is a first for me. I have returned books for fewer issues! But truly, this is worth the 60 hours.

Not even remotely entertaining, sometimes racist and classist (and I do not like jumping there, but there it is). Couldn't listen to even a third of this drivel. Narrator did a fine job, though.
