Dear Audible, please teach your robot to use accents and appropriate dialect for these characters. The poor rendering almost ruined the book altogether.

A good story with some unexpected turns
Revisado: 12-12-23
Interesting characters, intelligent dialogue, and a plot that is satisfying but not predictable. A good read, devoid of the usual gore and shock value that characterizes some Sandra Dallas novels. Highly recommend.

Historia
Charlie Finn had to grow up fast, living alone by age 16. Highly intelligent, he earned a life-changing scholarship to Harvard, where he learned how to survive and thrive on the outskirts of privileged society. That skill served him well in the cutthroat business world, as it does in more lucrative but dangerous ventures he now operates off the coast of Miami. Charlie tries to separate relationships from work.

Historia
Unflinching and plainspoken, Tessa Swan is not your typical 18th-century woman. Born and bred on the Western Virginia frontier along with her five brothers, she is a force to be reckoned with. Quiet and courageous, Clay Tygart is not your typical 18th-century man. Raised by Lenape Indians, he returns a hero from the French and Indian War to the fort that bears his name, bringing with him Tessa's long-lost friend, Keturah, a redeemed Indian captive like himself. Determined to avoid any romantic entanglements as fort commander, Clay remains aloof whenever he encounters the lovely Tessa.

Revisado: 01-28-22
I was not expecting the depth of character and intricacies of story line that I found in The Uncommon Woman. I value the authentic historical content, and would recommend this book to all others who share that sentiment.
Well worth the reading.

A little shallow
Revisado: 12-27-21
Great premise, satisfactory characters, and the plot had good potential but should have been better developed. The reader was sub-par, too.
Worth one listen, anyway.

Even better than Lion
Revisado: 01-15-21
I was afraid this book would be too similar to Lion by Saroo Brierley but it was actually quite different, and even more moving and unforgettable. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves a good story, the culture of India, and their family.

A Surprise
Revisado: 01-04-20
A good story but not what I expected. The story revolves around a modern American family and is all too true in its representation. This depressing and at times heart breaking scene is well contrasted with “the woods” and the girl who is their refugee. The story’s end came about far too easily, and seemed to lack the authenticity of the rest of the book, but being a fan of happy endings, I liked it anyway.

Historia
"Dr. Livingstone, I presume?" So goes the signature introduction of New York Herald star journalist Henry Morton Stanley to renowned explorer Dr. David Livingstone, who had been missing for six years in the wilds of Africa. Into Africa ushers us into the meeting of these remarkable men. In 1866, when Livingstone journeyed into the heart of the African continent in search of the Nile's source, the land was rough, unknown to Europeans, and inhabited by man-eating tribes.

Good idea, poorly written
Revisado: 05-17-19
The story was interesting but really could have been enhanced by better writing. Someone needs to give the author a thesaurus and maybe a course in child psychology. The character of Ursa was such a whiny brat I honestly could hardly finish the book.
