Some good points
Revisado: 07-24-22
There are definitely some good takeaways from this book, and Dr Sue is pleasant enough to listen to. But this book is more of a small taste of something to leave you wanting more, than it is a whole meal. Dr. Sue does a good introduction to these concepts, but she’s unlike other teachers on the subject of enlightenment. She seems to combine the practices for achieving higher consciousness with hustle culture and motivational speaker dribble. I’ve listened to some of her other workshops, and they are all similar; a lot gets said, but you never get the full deal with one product. There is always too much talk about what else she’s selling, so you never get the full lesson in any one product. I wouldn’t call this book a total loss, especially if you are new to these ideas, but rather than chase Dr Sue down her money pit, seek out some more additional spiritual guidebooks instead.

fed my soul

Love sister
Revisado: 05-26-22
I have carried so much shame around any conversation that centers around the patriarchy and household responsibilities. I tend to feel guilty because I do have help and I struggle to understand my ongoing issues, considering my husband does take on a considerable part of our load as it pertains to parenting and household work. This conversation showed me how there a clear delineation persists; as he feels so much pride because he is so far exceeding the expectations, while I constantly feel a sense of failure rather than relief. I can see now that there is an internalized belief about what success looks like as a woman, and a lack of communication on how to share the labor in a way that feels less like someone taking up your slack, and more about partners making an intentional plan together.

ALOK has so much wisdom. There were so many profound moments; I had to go back and listen to some statements a second time.
