Historia
Kin Stewart is an everyday family man: working in IT, trying to keep the spark in his marriage, struggling to connect with his teenage daughter, Miranda. But his current life is a far cry from his previous career...as a time-traveling secret agent from 2142. Stranded in suburban San Francisco since the 1990s after a botched mission, Kin has kept his past hidden from everyone around him, despite the increasing blackouts and memory loss affecting his time-traveler’s brain. Until one afternoon, his “rescue” team arrives - 18 years too late.

A Beautiful Sci-Fi Story
Revisado: 02-21-20
I'm not sure what I can add to the reviews. This book is worth a credit if you like time travel stories or dramas with a lot of heart. It's well written with a satisfying ending. I look forward to more from this author.

You don't have to read 14 first, but you should.
Revisado: 02-06-20
All of the Threshold books are standalone stories. You don't have to read the others before Terminus, but you'll enjoy it a lot more if you read 14 (that's the title of the book - just the number 14) first. IMHO this is an unofficial sequel to 14.
Peter Clines is a superb storyteller. All of his books are hard to put down, and this is one of his best. Ray Porter's performance is spot on, as always. If you enjoy exciting adventures with a sprinkling of horror and sci-fi, this book is for you.
Note: Terminus contains major spoilers for 14 and minor spoilers for The Fold.

Historia
Daniel is desperate for a job. When someone slides a note under his door offering him the groundskeeper’s position at an old estate, it seems too good to be true. Alarm bells start ringing when he arrives at Craven Manor. The mansion’s front door hangs open, and leaves and cobwebs coat the marble foyer. It’s clear no one has lived there in a long time. But an envelope waits for him inside the doorway. It contains money and promises more.

Not Great, Not Terrible, Just Okay
Revisado: 10-14-19
This is a perfectly serviceable spooky story. You could do a lot worse, but you could also do a lot better. Imho, it's not worth a full credit, but it might be worth a few bucks if you catch it on sale.
One thing that bugged me is that it's written in British English but read by an American in an American accent. I didn't knock off any stars for that because it seems wrong to penalize the narrator. If the producers had wanted him to use an accent, I'm sure they'd have said so.

Fat and/or Disabled Listeners Be Warned
Revisado: 09-26-18
I would have loved this clever, intricately plotted mystery, if not for the author's treatment of a fat, mobility impaired character.
The second segment of the book revolves around the banker Lord Ravencourt, who is a very fat man. In fact, he's so fat that he walks with a cane and needs his valet's help getting in and out of the bath. The author treats Lord Ravencourt like he's subhuman, repeatedly describing his body as disgusting and grotesque. He shames Ravencourt for his mobility problems; he describes the other characters' revulsion at the sight of Ravencourt. What on earth was the author thinking? There's nothing wrong with being fat and/or needing help getting around.
I understand that for plot purposes, Lord Ravencourt needed to be mobility impaired and unlikable. But surely the author could have achieved that without being hateful to a segment of his readership. It spoiled what was otherwise an excellent novel.
P.S. James Cameron Stewart's narration is superb.

Historia
A century ago, the Sentience Wars tore the galaxy apart and nearly ended the entire concept of intelligent space-faring life. In the aftermath, a curious tradition was invented - something to cheer up everyone who was left and bring the shattered worlds together in the spirit of peace, unity, and understanding. Once every cycle, the civilizations gather for the Metagalactic Grand Prix - part gladiatorial contest, part beauty pageant, part concert extravaganza, and part continuation of the wars of the past.

I'm not an eloquent writer, so I don't have the words to describe how much I love this audiobook! I've listened twice already, and it's going to be one of my all time favorites. It's a clever, humorous book that takes a surprisingly touching, insightful turn. Go for it! You'll probably like it.

You can't go wrong with a Peter Clines audiobook. These stories were excellent, and the narration was top notch. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer.

Good, Not Great
Revisado: 11-14-17
I loved the first Supernaturals book, but this one doesn’t live up to my expectations, mainly because the plot is too over-the-top. The book also has inconsistencies, implausibilities, and areas where the writing needs to be tightened up. These didn’t ruin the book for me, but they definitely detracted from my enjoyment of it.
Mr. Thorne’s narration is fine. It’s not great, but I've heard far, far worse. My chief complaint is that it’s hard to distinguish the individual characters. With a few exceptions, the characters all sound alike.
This book feels completely different from the previous one. It’s difficult to explain why. The first book was about a group of friends solving a mystery in a spooky, isolated, haunted house. This one is way over the top in comparison. It feels more like one of Mr. Golemon’s Event Group books. It’s about a science experiment gone wrong and a military conspiracy to hush it up. Heck, it even has guns and explosions and a mission to save the President. It’s like the author took an Event Group story and swapped out the Event Group characters for the Supernaturals characters. In fact, if you’re a fan of the Event Group series, you’ll probably like this a lot.
It’s not a bad book, but it’s not great either. IMHO, this isn’t worth a credit, but it’s worth a few bucks if you can get it on sale.

Nothing ever changes in Sanders. The town's still got a video store, for God's sake. So why doesn't Eli Teague want to leave? Not that he'd ever admit it, but maybe he's been waiting - waiting for the traveler to come back. The one who's roared into his life twice before, pausing just long enough to drop tantalizing clues before disappearing in a cloud of gunfire and a squeal of tires. The one who's a walking anachronism, with her tricorne hat, flintlock rifle, and steampunked Model A Ford.

Historia
Sinclair Rutherford is a young Seattle cop with a taste for the finer things. Doing menial tasks and getting hassled by superiors he doesn't respect are definitely not "finer things". Good police work and bad luck lead him to crack a case that changes quickly from a career-making break into a high-profile humiliation when footage of his pursuit of the suspect - wildly inappropriate murder weapon in hand - becomes an Internet sensation.

This was published in 1989, but it holds up well. There's very little to date it to that era. It's a great suspense story, and I enjoyed it very much!
