I can't believe I made it through this book. I almost bailed on it several times. I guess I'm glad I stuck with it if for nothing more than stubbornness. I didn't really like the presenter but the story kept me involved.

Terrified, Sally slams on the brakes. After a flash of bright light nearly blinds her, she passes out, awakening to the persistent knock of a police officer on her car window. When she sees the officer and remembers her frightening experience, she screams and faints, and is rushed to the hospital.

I Had To Binge It
Revisado: 01-22-25
At first, I had my doubts about this book but it didn't take long for it to hook me. Great story. The reader was not so convincing reading the male speaking parts but it was good enough. I put this on my wife's reading list as I think she will enjoy it even more than I did.

Great subject matter. Awful AI presentation.
Revisado: 12-04-24
Loved the story but the AI presentation comes off as halting and uber sanitary. Zero emotion in the speaking. It's like being read a story by HAL9000 from 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Historia
“Sheepdogs, Tom,” Jerry said. He got a beer from the ice bucket and handed Tom one. “We’re the convoys’ sheepdogs. You know the difference between a shepherd dog and a sheepdog?” Tom leaned back in his own chair and sipped his beer. “I thought they were about the same.” “Oh, sheepdogs and shepherds are very different. The sheepdogs live with the sheep. When they’re puppies, they sometimes even nurse from the ewes. They look like the sheep and they love the sheep. Then some animal shows up – a strange dog or a wolf. Out west it’s mostly coyotes but sometimes it’s ...

AI Doesn't Even Try
Revisado: 10-01-24
What probably is a great story is systematic destroyed here by the artificial intelligence reader. What little emotion or inflection there is in the AI reader is misplaced. The whole thing comes off in a robotic manor that ruins any sense of sincerity to what could have been an interesting story.
Note to publishers:
Spend a little extra and pay some poor schlub to actually read the book. A 5th grader could have put more emotion into this book.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Mediocre Story Made Worse By Reader
Revisado: 08-19-24
I had high hopes for this book. I was ultimately disappointed. Not only is the story in the book trite and predictable, but the reader of this book is awful. You have to have your finger on the volume button constantly because he goes from barely audible to booming and back to barely audible in seconds. His quavering inflections of projected emotion are so far over the top. You quickly get the impression that everyone in this story is permanently pissed off and it desensitizes the story.
It really wears on you quickly. Honestly, I don't think I could do another book read by Scott Brick. I barely made it to the end.

Historia
They came on foot and by horseback, in wagons and on rafts, singly and by the score, restless, adventurous, enterprising, relentless, seeking a foothold on the future. European immigrants and American colonists, settlers and speculators, soldiers and missionaries, fugitives from justice and from despair-pioneers all, in the great and inexorable westward expansion defined at its heart by the majestic flow of the Ohio River. This is their story, a chronicle of monumental dimension, of resounding drama and impact set during a pivotal era in our history: the birth and growth of a nation.

Historia
This book contains non-monogamous adult activities that have resulted in low reviews by some readers. Please don't buy it if you would find this disturbing. December 7, 1941, Captain Minoru Genda smiled as the last plane landed on the Kaga. Both attacks had succeeded beyond his wildest expectations, and the second wave had not lost a single plane. The losses on the initial attack were much less than projected. As the four carriers started turning, he saw the smoke rising over the burning ships and oil storage tanks. Even from 50 miles away and at an 8,000-foot altitude, he could see that ...

A Poor Attempt at Making WWII Titillating
Revisado: 06-24-24
This book started out at least keeping my interest. As it progressed, two things became apparent.
First, artificial intelligence reading needs a LOT of work.
Second, the book takes a sudden turn into what could be described as a 1942 version of Penthouse Forum.
The thing about injecting sex into stories is the stories need to justify the interaction. The sexual interactions in this story are about as clunky and mechanical as the reader of the story and at best, laughable.
This sudden sexual turn in story content takes up space in the story that could have been used to make the story more impactful and less abbreviated.

The Eagles are the best-selling, and arguably the tightest-lipped, American group ever. Now band member and guitarist Don Felder finally breaks the Eagles’ years of public silence to take fans behind the scenes. He shares every part of the band’s wild ride, from the pressure-packed recording studios and trashed hotel rooms to the tension-filled courtrooms and from the joy of writing powerful new songs to the magic of performing in huge arenas packed with roaring fans.

Wow. Just... Wow.
Revisado: 11-16-23
I recently attended the Long Goodbye Tour Concert in Cleveland and enjoyed it immensely. Joe Walsh stole the show. This concert piqued my interest in the bands history. Which led me to this audio book. I most certainly would have felt differently about the surviving members if I had read this book before the concert.
Having been only a casual fan of The Eagles, I abhor celebrity gossip as a whole so I never really paid much attention to any of their behind the scenes drama. I found this book to be very entertaining and informative.
Don should have taken a psychology class at some point in his early education so he could have recognized the behavior of his fellow band mates as pure narcissism. He maybe could have understood these events a little better with that perspective.
All in all, a great read. Both content and performance. Don. if you read this. You should consider a casual retirement being an audio book reader. Your voice and performance is A-1.
