Historia
Dr. Amador's research on poor insight was inspired by his success helping his brother Henry, who had schizophrenia, accept treatment. Like tens of millions of others diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and addictions, Henry did not believe he was ill. In this latest edition, all chapters have been updated with new research on anosognosia (lack of insight) and much more detail on LEAP. Listeners will find expanded guidance on how to learn and use LEAP.

This book offers an essential paradigm shift
Revisado: 01-17-25
“Unawareness of illness, or anosognosia, is typically a symptom and not a coping strategy (of the disorder)”. This insight not only shifts the perspective but it leads to a better understanding as to how we communicate and stay in closer relationship with the person dealing with psychosis. This is the tiniest snapshot of the book.
The methodologies necessary for improving communication and intervention are inside the pages of this book, as well as so much more. They tools are invaluable for both the clinician and the friends and loved ones of those dealing with psychosis. While teaching, explaining the research and findings in his book, he weaves in personal stories that demystify psychosis and better equip the reader. Excellent book.

Excellent book for families facing addiction!
Revisado: 04-06-24
Thank you, Lance. This was an incredibly meaningful and encouraging read for both families and the addict. Honestly, I can’t thank you and your family enough - for the honesty and courage, and for powerfully illustrating how the choice to heal from our darkest moments can be used to help and empower others.

Historia
Grandpa and Noah are sitting on a bench in a square that keeps getting smaller every day. The square is strange but also familiar, full of the odds and ends that have made up their lives: Grandpa's work desk, the stuffed dragon that Grandpa once gave to Noah, the sweet-smelling hyacinths that Grandma loved to grow in her garden.

I stumbled on to this book. Was a little confused until I realized I was entering into the reality of this man’s experience. Listened twice. Powerful little book.

Loved it!
Revisado: 11-28-23
I loved being able to come along on the adventure, learning about sailing, experiencing different cultures, and voyaging to beautiful places all over the world. I feel like I was able to experience much of it through her candid, descriptive writing. Great lessons learned along the way, as well.
