If your marriage is really struggling

Because I loved his needs her needs I thought I would give this book a go, but it felt very depressing and made me over analyze any bad moments in my marriage. I can see if your marriage is in a really bad place (distancing, big arguments, abuse, deep hurt) that this could be good for you. But if you just want to improve your marriage this is not it.
Brilliant author. Just not what I needed.

Anticlimactic

I am rarely disappointed in a book, but this one was honestly frustrating to me. It was very descriptive and wordy, which might be nice if the plot was more engaging. But at about 2/3 through the book I just decided I wanted to know how it ended and just be done. However, I was especially disappointed when the end *spoiler alert* didn’t tell me where certain main characters ended up or where/when the diamond disappeared. Really!? What an anticlimactic end.
I don’t understand the appeal and high reviews. Maybe if you read a book for literary value, and the storyline and entertainment is of unimportance to you this might be your book.

I am normally very easy to please but this book was torture. The narrator was awful and made the characters sound... well, like an old lady trying to sound like younger people. Once I finally got past the annoyance of that I just couldn’t get over the selfish Julia who constantly reminded herself of all Lucas’s transgressions and Lucas really was a “dunderhead”. It was not really believable at times and I kept thinking surely it will get better soon. The last 20 minutes they finally decided to care and think about each other. Not worth it. Argh. It was straight up torture.
