Historia
Was the biggest case of his career the worst mistake he ever made? Ten years ago, DCI Jack Logan stopped the serial child-killer dubbed "Mister Whisper", earning himself a commendation, a drinking problem, and a broken marriage in the process...When another child disappears a hundred miles north in the Highlands, Jack is sent to lead the investigation and bring the boy home. But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago?

5 star - great story with a few unexpected laughs
Revisado: 12-22-21
Haven’t written a review in a while and this is my only 5atar rating for this year,2021. Great narration - voice, tone, different character voices and the occasion funny interaction between characters which only makes the characters more real. Great story with twist too. Just what I had been looking for all year.

Not the same old story
Revisado: 06-08-21
It was great to have a story that was different to the usual thrillers. I loved the main character and her trials. The narrator does a great job of bringing things to life. Plus an unexpected but believable twist at the end

Long and winding with nothing really going on. Not enough character in the protagonists and other players to care what’s happened.

Historia
Actor David Suchet recalls his experience of playing Agatha Christie's world-famous detective, Hercule Poirot, for almost a quarter of a century. In the summer of 2013 David Suchet filmed his final scenes as Hercule Poirot. After 24 years in the role, he will have played the character in every story that Agatha Christie wrote about him (bar one, deemed unfilmable) and he will bid adieu to a role and a character that have changed his life.

Deep down here by the dark water lived old Gollum, a small slimy creature. I don’t know where he came from, nor who or what he was. He was Gollum—as dark as darkness, except for two big round pale eyes in his thin face. He had a little boat, and he rowed about quite quietly on the lake; for lake it was, wide and deep and deadly cold.

Classic novel with Andy Serlis giving an excellent performance and characterization of all involved. Obviously as Gollum in the movies, hearing his Gollum in this is such fun.

Annoying narrator pronounciations
Revisado: 09-14-20
I love the book, and on the whole the narrator is great, but his pronunciation of Gryffindor and Voldemort reaaaaaally annoy me. Also he tends to make all the kids sound whiney which I don’t think is a clear representation of the characters in many situations.

Story after story
Revisado: 04-03-20
The narrator did a great job with all the different characters and accents. There is an overarching story but each character really was like its own story, each with a purpose unlike many others I have read recently. Interesting historical drama leaving me wanting to know more of the realities.
