Character development the way it’s supposed to be done!
Revisado: 07-23-24
This book grabbed me and made me love it like no other book has done for a long time. The characters are relatable. The story is focused on family, independence, heartache, and most importantly, Gods love. I will be thinking of this one for a long time.

At first, she struggles to find a place in this new existence. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a very nice palette cleanser between the historical fiction dramas I often prefer. Very happy to have read it and would recommend it to anyone.

Kept waiting for it to get better…
Revisado: 11-29-23
I was excited to read this book because other readers have compared it to some of my faves like The Nightingale and Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah. These types of books can be a slow burn, but The Orphans Tale did not catch fire. It is predictable. The characters are not well developed, and the plot has so many missed opportunities. To me, the only time the book got better was when it was finally over.

Passionate, earthy, deeply affecting, The Red Tent combines rich storytelling with a valuable contribution to modern fiction: a vibrant new perspective of female life in the age that shaped present day civilization and values.
If you like The Red Tent, try The Harlot by the Side of the Road, a recounting of some of the most startling and explicit writings from The Old Testament.

An overall heartwarming tale of love and loss in the earliest days of Christianity
Revisado: 10-02-23
Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just finished listening to this historical fiction book. I really enjoyed it! The book is loosely based on Biblical tales. It follows the stories of Jacob’s wives, and Dina, his only daughter and the main character. Diamant weaves a story of bonding, betrayal, love, and loss. The last few chapters bring the story full circle and wrap it up nicely. It is not a perfect story. It is not a true story. But it is an overall heartwarming tale that captures the essence of the often difficult earliest days of Christianity.

I love this series! It is well researched, yet easy for the listener to follower. Ancient customs and religion are forefront, and described in a way that allows the listener to form a coherent picture in their mind.
As a woman, I appreciate the self reflection and growth of the primary character. And as a mother, I appreciate the eloquence of the portrayal of the central family involved.
What a wonderful read!

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

The inside story we all want
Revisado: 04-05-23
Spare provides a groundbreaking inside look into Harry’s inner monologue and his singular perspective. He recalls times in his life with exacting detail and adds an emotional epilogue as he sets each scene.
I found much of the family drama relatable, especially his relationship with William.
I can only hope that the royal family takes time to read this book and a dialogue opens between Harry and his loved ones.

Historia
These 36 lectures tell the remarkable story of a tumultuous thousand-year period in the history of England. Dominated by war, conquest, and the struggle to balance the stability brought by royal power with the rights of the governed, it was a period that put into place the foundation of much of the world we know today. As you journey through this largely chronological narrative you'll see key themes emerge, including the assimilation of successive waves of invaders, the tense relationship between kings and the nobility, and the constant battles over money and taxation.

Wonderfully comprehensive study for novice historians
Revisado: 11-05-22
As a fan of the historical fiction style of writing, I want to delve a little deeper into factual historical content. The speaker here is entertaining and scholarly, often citing sources in the course. While listening, I felt as though I was hearing an audiobook read by a narrator. Engaging content and delivery! Highly recommend!

Wonderful listen
Revisado: 04-15-20
I wish more books were like The Clockmaker’s Daughter.
This book takes masterfully detailed twists and turns throughout time and I enjoyed every second! Never a dull moment, and each scene imperative to another.
This one will stick with me.
I only wish there had been more indulgence into the lives of the other ghosts in the home. But that’s just nit picking.
This story and narrator portrayal will forever be one of my favorites and on top of my most suggested list.

Tell Me MORE Lies
Revisado: 04-15-20
The narrator did a fantastic job with this book! She certainly had me from hello.
There were a few unsuspected surprises, but not nearly enough. The author could have added just a bit more depth to a few key characters and really taken this one to another level.
Overall, though, a good story and although I won’t necessarily miss any of the characters, the listen was entertaining.
