I've always worried I could become a hoarder...!

This book touched on so many parts of my own life, I have a few collections of things that are valuable, that I don't want to part with, that make me so happy when I look at them. I relate so easily to both female characters and how they interact. It was such a believable and lovely story, and by the end, I wanted both of these women to know me back! Take the time to indulge in this great read!

I can't get enough of these characters!

This is the best series I have listened to, so much fun! I love all of the characters, but most of all Fortune. It is so fun to live vicariously through her, I love how tough she is! My absolute favorite was book 11, but they are all worth the credit. Please keep going with this series, I have already listened twice just because I love both the narration and the stories!

GREAT LISTEN!!

I am a native of Colorado, and my father was on the Denver Police Department for 26 years. Listening to Joe Kenda is a lot like listening to my dad, both great storytellers with some of the most interesting and horrible stories to tell. My dad was a detective, a lieutenant, and worked homicide for a short time in the 60's. It was a different world then, no DNA, forensics didn't exist, old school canvassing, hard work, and strong intuition were the key to successful arrests for any crime. I sincerely enjoyed this book, however, it brought back many memories of my dad getting up, leaving without a reason in the middle of the night, and sometimes not understanding why. This is the real story for most police. It is not a glamorous job, most of the men and women who serve the community are dedicated and genuinely good people, they put their lives on the line every time they walk out of their front door, and I still remember wondering if my dad would come home the next morning. Thank God he always did, that's not to say he wasn't shot at, assaulted, spit on, thrown up on...etc. Joe Kenda describes it all so well!! Thank you Lt. Kenda!! I am proud of my father's service, and proud of yours, thank you for writing this book, and for all of the other police around the world, thank you for your service too!

I just get lost in this series...

I read the 1st book, and I as a bit worried about 2 narrators, what if I don't like the voice of one of them? Well, I am thrilled to tell you that Molly Harper has chosen the PERFECT male voice for the characters in this series. Jonathan Davis has a low, sultry voice with the perfect southern drawl. And of course, Amanda Ronconi has all of Harper's characters down, she is definitely a voice you can count on!!
Now the story...so much fun to listen to, I feel like I am at the bayou, smelling the damp, the trees, the grass, and much like many parts of New Orleans, the friendliness, oddities, and all that makes New Orleans unique (and I would imagine Mystic Bayou). I want to go there an visit!! The characters are steeped in family, traditions, community, oh and mystery! Please keep on telling us about Mystic Bayou (and if you ever feel like stepping back into Naked Werewolf, I would be so, so happy)!!

If you've ever been cheated on...

This was such a fun, delicious, easy listen, I simply increased my commute by a few miles every day just to enjoy a few more minutes! The narrator is perfect for this book and developed the characters beautifully. What I enjoyed most though, was the way the main character was in control and empowered (and hysterically funny) even though she was cheated on, going through a divorce, and gossiped about in her community. Many of us have felt that pain/frustration/desire for revenge for a soon-to-be or x-spouse, the author embodies it in this fun book!

ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!!

Juan Martinez is not only one of the best prosecutors in our country, he was able to out-wit one of the most narcissistic, arrogant, dangerous, self-centered, self-serving, sociopathic murderers of our time. He eloquently describes the case and his own process. I could not stop listening!! Even though I had managed to watch much of the case on TV, I was fascinated by the back story. I am so pleased and impressed that Mr. Martinez did not deviate from his style of questioning even though the media criticized him for it. Cases are won and lost on how articulate and hard-hitting an exchange is between an attorney and a witness. Thank you for a great documentary of this story, and thank you Mr. Martinez, for putting such a heinous murderer behind bars!

The truth about prison...

This story was not only well written, but blatantly truthful and sobering. I was on an emotional roller coaster the entire time, and couldn't wait until my commute to listen for another hour! My only criticism is the ending...which I will leave to you to decide for yourself!

Xe Sands has always delivered...

I have a "God bag" of my own, writing stories, experiences, feelings/hurts/anxieties/frustrations, and putting them in a bag and "letting them go". It is a way I find peace when I am afraid/frustrated/fearful. This book spoke to me, I was drawn in by the characters, and I so much enjoyed how the main character became stronger and would not let anyone penetrate the integrity and strength of Iola Ann. I really loved this book and what it stood for. Xe Sands has the most wonderful way of narrating and characterizing the people in this book. Just listen and understand how God works in our lives...

THE BEST!

I have listened to this book 4 times, and I am still not tired of listening! This book has helped me to kick soda, artificial sweeteners, and caffeine to the curb and drink a lot more water. It has helped me to find a gentler, easier way to detox and feel healthier. I would recommend this to anyone that has tried practically every diet out there (believe me, I have tried almost every one!!) and failed to keep the weight off. This book has been my answer!
