A bit confusing
Revisado: 09-18-23
I wanted to like this book because I love Galveston hurricane stories. The beginning was understandable as a young woman is devastated after the death of her 6 year old daughter but she needed a doctors care and not a trip to the old homestead. Too many characters pop up which makes it hard to follow and she can’t find Patrick, the one she is looking for. The descriptions of Galveston are lovely but I can’t recommend this book to my friend.

Historia
Hollywood, 1938: As soon as she learns MGM is adapting her late husband’s masterpiece for the screen, 77-year-old Maud Gage Baum sets about trying to finagle her way onto the set. Nineteen years after Frank’s passing, Maud is the only person who can help the producers stay true to the spirit of the book - because she’s the only one left who knows its secrets. But the moment she hears Judy Garland rehearsing the first notes of “Over the Rainbow”, Maud recognizes the yearning that defined her own life story.

A Story I didn’t Know
Revisado: 03-01-23
I loved the beginning of Finding Dorothy. Maud was going to college in 1889 and I was thrilled to find out how that worked. It got kind of bogged down in The middle with hard times, hard births and babies dying. The push of the book was woman’s rights including the right to vote. Maud wanted the studio to do everything just as Frank had written it. The book spent very few pages on any connection between husband and wife when the actual writing was being done. I also liked the connection between Maud and Judy as Maud looked after a lonely young lady who was being forced to stop growing up. Frank was an interesting, optimistic character who had a never give up attitude, who loved Christmas and giving. presents.

A slow moving thriller
Revisado: 09-24-21
It was hard to do so many voices in one story. Also with a character named Jo it was hard to keep thinking of her as a woman and a crew member called Daddy was hard to picture too. The story was good but too much detail and slow to come together.

Historia
According to the establishment media, the intelligentsia, and our political chattering class, the greatest threat to American freedom lies in right-wing authoritarianism. We’ve heard that some 75 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump represent the rise of American fascism; that conservatives have allowed authoritarianism to bloom in their midst, creating a grave danger for the republic.

All of society’s woes illustrated
Revisado: 08-02-21
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Ben detailed each category of wokeness we have experienced in the last few years. I felt a bit overwhelmed with immense media, entertainment, the Education Academy, big tech, BLM, 1619, CRT and the far left penetration into our world. . Who am I but one voice to push back. At times I am glad I am 72 and won’t be around to see the turn to Marxism. But I want to leave a better world for my grandchildren. I want them to be proud to be Americans so I will encourage those I know to notice what is going on and to speak up. As Ben says, we only have to let the elites at the top know there are a lot of people on the other side. This book has all the facts you need to arm yourself for the fight.
