A must read
Revisado: 10-15-23
Honest, moving and well written.
I cannot for the life of me understand how a person who is intelligent, articulate and dedicated to civil service could have adored someone as depraved as Trump and worked so hard to excuse his behaviors. I applaud her honesty and courage in the telling of her story. She has more courage in acknowledging her blind loyalty and the harm that was done in the name of that loyalty than all the grown men and most of the veteran Republican who walk the halls of congress in the Capital today.. Our Democracy is in dire peril and thus book is well timed. A must read!

Beautiful— simply beautifully written
Revisado: 11-26-21
What a beautifully written book. Honest, brave and speaks to the incredible person the author is. Much after completing the book my heart continues to ache for all her suffering and for all that she had to endure. I wish I could meet her in person to give her a warm hug and tell her that I think she is a beautiful and admirable soul. What an amazing woman. Also, how wonderful to get to know and see HRC through Huma’s lens and her personal experiences. HRC seems to be an incredible woman too. May this book bring Huma much deserved success!

Historia
Los Angeles, 1943. As the Allies beat back the Nazis in the Mediterranean and the United States military slowly closes in on Tokyo, Walt Disney cranks out wartime propaganda and the Cocoanut Grove is alive with jazz and swing every night. But behind this sunny façade lies a darker reality. Up in the lush foothills of Hollywood, a woman floats lifeless in the pool of one of California’s trendiest hotels. When Maggie Hope learns that this woman was engaged to her former fiancée, John Sterling, and that he suspects her death was no accident, intuition tells her he’s right.

A Wonderful Meditation for Bedtime
Revisado: 09-21-20
I love this. The narrator's voice is quiet and calm. The message is sensible and soothing--how to relax the body and the mind. I like that he says we cannot control what happens. He's not up tight about how meditation "must" be done. Only 11 minutes, it helps me relax towards sleep.

Good book. Narrator not up to the mark

The book was good but the narrator, not so much. Will not be purchasing the sequel as it is being narrated by the same narrator.

Historia
The Whip is inspired by the true story of Charlotte "Charley" Parkhurst (1812-1879) who lived most of her extraordinary life as a man. As a young woman in Rhode Island, she fell in love with a runaway slave and had his child. The destruction of her family drove her west to California, dressed as a man, to track the killer. Charley became a renowned stagecoach driver for Wells Fargo, during the renowned California 'gold rush' days. She killed a famous outlaw, had a secret love affair, and lived with a housekeeper who, unaware of her true sex, fell in love with her.

Outstanding Narration
Revisado: 07-24-19
The story is good and engaging. Tugs at the heart. Based on the existence of the real Charley Parkhurst. Lots of violence, which has bothered some readers.
It is the narration that motivated my review here. It was the best I have ever heard in my hundreds of audible.com books. Congratulations to Robin Weigert. If she ever narrates another book, don't miss it!

20 months, and I still am remembering this book
Revisado: 10-28-16
Would you listen to Yellow Crocus again? Why?
Probably, although I think I remember it enough that I could discuss a lot of it today, 20 months after I originally read it. I thought it was a beautiful story, beautifully written. Poignant. How people can treat each other the way we sometimes do is beyond me.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Yellow Crocus?
Escaping, establishing a new life, and the very ending which I won't give away.

Historia
A spellbinding historical novel about a woman who befriends Ethel and Julius Rosenberg and is drawn into their world of intrigue, from the author of Margot. On June 19, 1953, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg were executed for conspiring to commit espionage. The day Ethel was first arrested in 1950, she left her two young sons with a neighbor, and she never came home to them again. Brilliantly melding fact and fiction, Jillian Cantor reimagines the life of that neighbor and the lives of Ethel and Julius.

A real page-turner
Revisado: 01-17-16
Based on facts, Cantor creates a wonderfully-paced story that I could not put down. She portrays Ethel as a loving wife and mother, whom she believes was innocent of the crimes attributed to her. ... The narrator's voice wasn't to my liking, so I got the hard-copy from the library and read the entire book in just 2 days!
