Historia
In 1895, Antonio Sonoro is the latest in a long line of ruthless men. He’s good with his gun and drawn to trouble but he’s also out of money and out of options. A drought has ravaged the town of Dorado, Mexico, where he lives with his wife and children, and so when he hears about a train laden with gold and other treasures, he sets off for Houston to rob it—with his younger brother Hugo in tow. But when the heist goes awry and Hugo is killed by the Texas Rangers, Antonio finds himself launched into a quest for revenge that endangers not only his life and his family, but his eternal soul.

A thought provoking epic.
Listen to the sample and read the synopsis, if you like what you see and hear, get the title.
Not a waste of time; entertaining, and written with a few light-hearted laugh erupting utterances.

Historia
Ryan and Sophie are a golden couple in Melbourne, the charming, salt-of-the-earth country boy and the charismatic, gorgeous social butterfly. When Ryan’s father dies, leaving them the family farm, it seems like a chance for Ryan to get back to his roots and for Sophie to embrace the bucolic country life she always dreamed of. But reality proves very different, and years spent struggling against an implacable drought have pushed their marriage – and finances – to the absolute limit.

Stupid
Revisado: 11-29-24
Spoiler Alert
So, the bad guy leaves a bloody murder scene, and one of our (stupid) protagonists assumes his wife is the murderer, and does a botched job of cleaning up the crime scene to protect her. I quit. Up to that point, I hadn't learned to like anyone in the book, it was easy to cut my losses, (time), and move on to something else, anything else!

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Suffering a fool
Revisado: 09-16-24
I gave up. When the charactors in a book act foolishly, (the most polite word I can think of), I just cannot like them enough to dedicate my limited time to find out why they continue to do stupid things. If these people were real, I would certainly not want to be around them.
I did not finish this title, and would not reccomend that anyone else would even start it.

Historia
When Phoebe, goddess of the moon, is killed by the knights of the sun god, Hyperion, all who follow her are branded heretics. With Phoebe gone, the souls of the dead are no longer ferried to the underworld, and instead linger on as shades who feast on the blood of the living. Raef is a child of the night. He lives in the shadows, on scraps, eking out a meager existence as a thief. But when an ornate box is sequestered in the Temple of Hyperion, the chance of a big score proves too great to resist. What he finds within propels him on an odyssey across the sea and back again.

It was so slow.
I was waiting for something to catch my interest. What finally did was a kiss between two men. Not what I expected or wanted. I’m not gay, and have no interest in a story featuring a gay main character. I apologize if I’m offending anyone but had I known what the book was about I wouldn’t have purchased it.

Terrible naration.
Revisado: 07-20-24
Garbage In, Garbage Out.
Never blame a machine, it is just doing what it was designed/programed to do. My issue is the publisher's lack of dilligence. Didn't ANYONE listen to this before they published it? The cadence is just painful, mispronouncations are rampant. The book was OK, the plot/story really can't afford the distraction of being jolted out of it by jarring mispronounciations, or unexpected pauses.
If you want to read this one, buy the print version, I will NEVER buy another book narrated by, "Virtual Voice",

Torture
Revisado: 05-23-24
I don't understand how anyone could reccomend this title. Utterly depressing from page one, and continuly getting worse with ever word. If I ever wanted to torture myself with such a hopeless story, I'd rather it be non-fiction.

When their two worlds collide, the answer to that question becomes increasingly unsettling in Afsaneh Gray’s The Other Woman, a bracingly unpredictable audio experience. Depressing
Revisado: 12-28-23
Not only depressing, but really not very interesting.
Just an awful story, the only thing not wrong with it, is that it is short.
Everyone in the story is worse off at the end than they were in the beginning.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Nice feel-good story
Revisado: 12-05-23
The story was ok enough to listen to while doing simple tasks.
The use of "kilo" to describe a unit of distance measurement ripped me out of the story more than once. A more familar metric unit of distance to me is "klick" as a thousand yards.
The pauses in the narration were long enough for me to start reaching for my phone to see why I had lost connectivity.
If this wasn't in the "plus" catalog I would have stopped listening and returned the title.

Jus don't bother
Revisado: 02-21-23
This is one of the worst space operas I've run across. Maybe a watered down version of the next worst. Too familiar. Going nowhere slowly.
I've heard Luke Daniels before, never a huge fan, but his female voice with the terrible Southern accent in this one is the worst.
I'm returning this turd.
