Awesome series
Revisado: 02-13-25
I loved these books!! The series was a combination of the best of Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia and the Valdemar series. Each book kept me wanting the next one even more. Well written, in depth characters, lots of action as well as a great all round story. I’m sad that there isn’t another book! The narration was awesome as well. Well done!

Historia
Three months ago, the horrible news that the Dark Druids captured his beloved pet Gryphon sent thirteen-year-old Jake Everton reeling—especially since he knows he’s the one the warlock brotherhood really wants. It’s a trap, and poor Red is just the bait. Well aware of the threat, the Elders have forbidden the daring boy hero from taking any action to rescue his faithful companion. Instead, Jake and his friends must cool their heels at the Order’s palace headquarters, where they’ll be “safe.”

Computer generated voice?
Revisado: 08-30-24
This series was rather pathetic. The storyline was weak and predictable. I got so tired of hearing the word “honey” I was ready to be ill. The author tried to be old fashioned with the women all in dresses, but then just threw in GPS trackers The women went from wimpy to not wimpy and back again. The only reason I finished the books was because I was driving and needed to stay awake.
And the computer generated narration was AWFUL!!! Wrong words, wrong pronunciation, wrong pauses for commas or dashes, and all voices were the same. I will not ever listen to that kind of narration again. I do not recommend this series to anybody

Historia
Barbara Butcher was early in her recovery from alcoholism when she found an unexpected lifeline: a job at the Medical Examiner’s Office in New York City. The second woman ever hired for the role of Death Investigator in Manhattan, she was the first to last more than three months. The work was gritty, demanding, morbid, and sometimes dangerous—and she loved it. In What the Dead Know, she writes with the kind of New York attitude and bravado you might expect from decades in the field, investigating more than 5,500 death scenes, 680 of which were homicides.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 06-27-24
The overall story was ok. But I was expecting more of the medical story. More about the actual investigations and the scenes and the scientific aspect. What was there was good, but it was more of a memoir or autobiography and more about the author’s somewhat crazy life and issues. The book description did not really touch on that aspect. I was more than a little disappointed. I’m sorry I wasted a credit on this one.

Historia
On the border between Valdemar and the deadly Pelagirs Forest, the gryphon hero Kelvren returns from a near-fatal self-sacrifice that won him the approval of Valdemar's ground troops, but caused a diplomatic crisis. Frustrated by his lack of a hero's welcome, Kelvren is talked into helping with an expedition by his old friend, Firesong. Firesong struggles with his own age and mortality, and he intends to solve a vast mystery at the center of legendary Lake Evendim as his crowning achievement.

Politics? Really? Not what I was expecting.
Revisado: 05-09-24
I think the overall story was good. It was interesting to finally get most of the other book’s characters in it. But the different narrator was hard to get used to and didn’t differentiate the voices as well. And the whole political story just detracts from the actual plot. Tyrsell’s whole character was so different and seemed malevolent. The next book will be interesting. Not so sure I like how Kelvren’s saga is going. Definitely it as good as other books.

Historia
The most common triggers for homicide are fear, rage, revenge, money, lust, and, more rarely, sheer madness. This isn’t an exact science, of course. Any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime. This book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the trigger that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the why of a murder case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer.

Finding humor in horrer
Revisado: 03-20-24
I lovekd this book! Kenda is honest, truthful, and brutal in his stories. He tells it like it is, or was. He has a very dry sense of humor that I find incredibly funny! He has some great one-liners. “Hoovered to death” and “this couple would not have qualified for a ‘smart’ phone anyway” are a couple of my favorites. Keep enjoying retirement Kenda!

This incredible story shows how John Douglas tracked and participated in the hunt for one of the most notorious serial killers in US history. For 31 years a man who called himself BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill) terrorized the city of Wichita, Kansas, sexually assaulting and strangling a series of women, taunting the police with frequent communications, and bragging about his crimes to local newspapers and TV stations.

Good story,very poor narrator
Revisado: 01-06-24
This was a good story, though not one of my favorites. It the narration was awful!! When you’re telling a story about a former FBI agent, knowing how to pronounce Quantico is a must! He killed it every time he said it He had poor pronunciation and did not narrate the grammar very well, like pausing for commas etc. His tone of voice was also very monotonous. I almost stopped listening. This book needs a redo with a better narrator!

"Big Bob" Bashara put on a respectable face. To his friends in Detroit's affluent suburb of Grosse Pointe, he was a married father of two, Rotary Club President, church usher, and soccer dad who organized charity events with his wife, Jane. To his "slaves", he was "Master Bob", a cocaine-snorting slumlord who operated a sex dungeon and had a submissive girlfriend to do his bidding - and he wanted more slaves to serve him. But Bashara knew he couldn't rule a household of concubines on his income alone. He eyed his wife's sizable retirement account and formulated a murderous plan.

way too long
Revisado: 09-20-22
This book was so very long and remarkably boring. The actual story could have been told in about 3 chapters! It just dragged, and I had to really convince myself to finish it. I kept telling my phone to, "just get on with it already!!"
I would not recommend this book.
