Historia
Connie Chung is a pioneer. In 1969 at the age of 23, this once-shy daughter of Chinese parents took her first job at a local TV station in her hometown of Washington, D.C. and soon thereafter began working at CBS news as a correspondent. Profoundly influenced by her family’s cultural traditions, yet growing up completely Americanized in the United States, Chung describes her career as an Asian woman in a white male-centered world.

Connie Rocks
Revisado: 10-16-24
I looked forward to this book because I always thought Connie wasn't just a female journalist I had tuned into over the decades, Connie was a smooth operator at the helm; a very cool girl. Loved the Quote/Unquotes and the details, the explanations of things I remember but the supportive material helped identify the story. Love the family stories and the family love. She's an Icon and she's a cool girl (you can't make that up) thus a cool icon who totally rocked this life of hers. ... and that's the way it is -WK. - Donna from NJ (5 miles from the Connie Chung rest area) :)

From the woman who is credited for launching what we know as the celebrity focused, “brand” driven, social media obsessed popular culture of today, comes an honest and surprising memoir that reckons with that truth, and shows that there is so much more to Paris Hilton than you might believe. This extended edition includes a bonus chapter detailing her motherhood journey.

Journey well told
Revisado: 05-14-24
I have kids that grew up with Paris and have seen her grow up as well - but through a lens. I feel the reason she is levelheaded is because she grew up in NYC; where mistakes yearn exploring in its concrete canyons. No matter where she lives now or where she travels to, only NYC and 'precell phone' days could create a Paris Hilton. I hope she gifts that to her children too. Family and face care are everything, I agree Paris! Loved the book.

Historia
On the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards, the world learned of a stunning tragedy: Whitney Houston, unquestionably one of the most remarkable and powerful voices in all of music, had been silenced forever. Over the weeks and months that followed, family, friends, and fans alike tried to understand how such a magnificent talent and beautiful soul could have been taken so early and so unexpectedly. Honest and heartbreaking, this is a mother's story of tears, joy, and her greatest love of all: her daughter, Whitney.

Deeply honest
Revisado: 01-20-23
The truth and honesty in Cissy's book is undeniable. Love, God and Family are what has carried her through life. The times in the book that reflected on her daughters drug use were heartbreaking to hear as they touched the worlds beloved Whitney. In 2023, the odds of the struggles with drugs and alcohol in the readers own family are relatable. I felt like I was listening to a friend about a loved one. It was a wonderful read and as someone who also rooted for Whitney's success, i felt comforting to hear Cissy's honest words. The reading was so on point; very real- I felt it was Cissy speaking. Whitney's being remembered by her mom was done so with total love.

My Hero
Revisado: 09-28-22
I am a die hard EWF fan my whole life. This book was wonderful for me because I got to know Maurice White from the inside. I’m so grateful he did this book. I WANT to know what made him tick. The message is and always was, have faith. Believe in yourself, do the right thing, work hard, say yes to life and those things will push your life forward to be a good human with a positive legacy. I do wish his brothers and those others still alive could’ve interjected. Maybe on an updated version or post script edition. This book was an important read for me. I “got” EWF when I was 9 and the goodness and spirituality that came from the albums also came from this book. Loved it.

Ode to an Ex
Revisado: 09-23-22
I love Carly Simon. Her voice is so soothing on vinyl and on the tracks of this book. I grew up with Simon & Taylor being a couple. Quite frankly, knowing JT doesn’t speak to her makes me so angry that she spent this entire book talking about how he has been the love of her life. I wanted her to move on in the book. Too much focus went to her ex. Her family and sister stories were my favorite part and I would’ve liked to hear more about her children. Carly, nobody does it better. James Taylor, please sing Mockingbird on stage with Carly one more time for us fans, give her a hug, be friends. Maybe Carly needed to have a book for her children how they were born fromLove and passion. If so, Total kudos. Either way, I look forward to Carly’s next book. She is an American treasure.

Historia
Behind the curtain of her happy on-screen persona, Valerie Bertinelli’s life has been no easy ride, especially when it comes to her own self-image and self-worth. She waged a war against herself for years, learning to equate her value to her appearance as a child star on One Day at a Time and punishing herself in order to fit into the unachievable Hollywood mold. She struggled to make her marriage to Eddie Van Halen—the true love of her life—work, despite all the rifts the rock-star lifestyle created between them.

Conversations with a Friend
Revisado: 02-16-22
At 58, I am one of the fans Valerie speaks of in her books who have taken this journey of life at the same time as she albeit different sides of the USA. Van Halen meant the world to me, One Day at a Time was a favorite show of mine. Val & Ed were the first Pam & Tommy or Ben & Jen. The book was a tribute to love, family, food and memories. Letting us in to her heart and soul about Eddie is something I will never forget; it was done with the utmost respect. This book means a lot; it is honest, and spoken in a way my best friend would speak. Thanks for letting us all in Val. This book rocks.

Historia
Abandoned as an infant on the streets of Greenville, Mississippi, and rescued by a loving white family, Tommy Davidson spent most of his childhood unaware that he was different from his brother and sister. All that changed as he came of age in a society of racial barriers - ones that he was soon to help break. On a fledgling network, Tommy joined the cast of In Living Color, alongside other relative newcomers including Jim Carrey, Rosie Perez, Jamie Foxx, and Jennifer Lopez - all united by an ingenious throng of Wayans siblings, poised to break new ground.

Living in color sparkles
Revisado: 12-16-21
Tommy Davidson was always one of my favorites from back in the day. He had a versatility in his comedy and acting that always made me smile in a nod to the universe “bravo, another special one”
There was a nice flow to the book, his chapters made sense and in the end left me wanting more. I think Tommy has material for a fer more hours and I’d love to hear it.
I bought this book because he always made me laugh back in the 90s with all he did. I consider him a friend In my head. I’ll find myself wondering “hmm I wonder what TD is doing?”.
Im glad his momma found him and changed his fate. He’s a walking miracle (with a great sense of comedy).
I actually emailed Gerry Spense once and he emailed me back- I still have it. He was a legend and that name drop didn’t get lost on me. I hope there is a pic out there of those 2 together.

Historia
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Happy, Inspiring and Sprinkled with Pixie Dust
Revisado: 11-28-20
I can’t believe I am done with this book. I never wanted it to end. As global a superstar that she is, the reader can’t escape her human side at all pivots of her life. Some books crave more details of growing up in less than conditions or the breakups gone bad. Within Mariahs voice, as usual, lies all the honesty of a full circle life. The listener can feel her pain, frustration, contentment and joy while riding on the truth her vocal chords can’t deny. At 57, I remember her arrival on the music scene, my kids growing up with her songs in our home and then her mommyhood; she brought me back to it all. My favorite parts are how she describes her love of her fans throughout and then... in the final chapter, how she describes in detail Christmas with her family. I believe her fans and all listeners alike will say “You did this book right Mariah!”
