The story has too much child abuse discription

Gratuitous child abuse and graphic violence

Interesting use of time to tell multi-generational story but the author chose to include graphic details of child sexual abuse that adds very little to the story. Overall, the story is mildly entertaining at best and just gross at worst. I would skip it!

Great motivator!

I have been trying to run 2+ miles without stopping for a few weeks on my own. I would just hit this wall soon after the first mile and need to stop and walk for a bit before trying again. I saw the Audible book and all the great reviews for this program and thought- Why Not give Katie a try? Well, having Katie in my ear and the fun music at just the right tempo kept me moving even when my brain wanted me to stop. I finished the two miles without stopping! My first success with this program- I’m sure not the last. I’m now looking forward to the next training.

Interesting idea with poetic writing

The idea of this book was intriguing and R.O. Kwon has a beautiful writing style. However, after completing the book, I was left feeling disappointed that the story wasn’t quite finished and that there just wasn’t enough depth to the John Leal character. Overall, a well performed reading and an interesting choice. Just left me wanting.

I was surprised how much this book touched my heart. I fell in love with Arthur Less and so will you!
Robert Petkoff is outstanding- I’ve sought out works he narrates as the characters and stories truly come alive in his performance.

Beautiful writing about our deep down selves

Poetic words describe the heartache of following someone else’s rules of doing what is “right” and what “success” means to a person. Nicely crafted characters that you want to know better. Jennifer Lin does a beautiful performance reading the various voices. A really nice listen.
