"I'll stand by you" by the Pretenders is the perfect soundtrack for this story
Revisado: 04-21-25
I loved the two books! Would have been better if only one narrator had made both MCs voices. I don't understand why there were two narrators, tbh. I personally thought Paige sounded better, that low throaty, deep voice for Hadria made even my chest flutter more times than I can count. And her more soft voice for Aurora was also satisfying, without sounding like she was whispering or with a sore throat, like the other narrator. Don't get me wrong, the other narrator has a great range, with accents and all, very well done, but I didn't enjoy how similar both MC's voices sounded at time, specially where Hadria was concerned and for male characters as well...
Regardless, all in all I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to both books!
I recommend them to any wlw fans out there!

It's the carefree '80s and Juliette Lucian-Sorel has it all. She's the greatest dancer to ever grace the floorboards of Palais Garnier, she's royalty to her adoring fans, and Paris is at her feet. Or so it seems . . .

Crème de la crème!
Revisado: 04-15-25
I was anxiously waiting for the audible version since it was announced!
I pre-ordered it even, just to appease my angsty heart - as if in its digital form it would ever run the risk of being sold out before I got the chance to own it!
This author...this narrator...there are no words, really!
One needs to be exposed to both of them uniting fronts, to fully be able to appreciate what true art with words and sounds really mean...
THANK YOU, Mila and Abby, for the continuous gifts you keep bestowing us, mere mortals, with...
May the universe keep blessing you both with your own gifts, one with the infinite skill of beautiful writing and the other with the gift of translating those same written words into blissful sounds, emotions and feelings with her mere voice.

Is two weeks in Paris long enough for these lifelong competitors to learn to play for the same team? Betsy Ever since I was a little girl, my dream was to go to the International Games. Incredible short story!
Revisado: 02-16-25
it's amazing how Reba Bale can squeeze in so much plot and depth into such a short story! I missed none of the element from long romance novels, and because the pace is quick yet greatly satisfying, it gives you all the good feels!
This is a great author, I only wish audible wouldn't just use virtual voice for most of her short stories, though, it's such a turn off given they're such lovely, well-written short stories.

Historia
The universe is definitely trying to punish Jennifer Andrews. Her new colleague, Ellaine Baxter, is not only an annoying, ambitious hard-ass, she's the woman who broke Jennifer's best friend's heart. Now, for added torture, they have to drive to a teambuilding conference together. On their three-hour journey, things go from tense to catastrophic after an unscheduled stop in New Zealand's wildly beautiful Kaimanawa Forest.

average to bad storyline and narration
Revisado: 02-09-25
There's def not enough plot twists / story or anything, really, to justify more than 9 hours...plus, the narrator sounds the same for all female characters and the all the men also sound the same, it was hard telling all of them apart. Besides, ALL the long moments of angst were narrated with a voice that sounded forcefully on the verge of tears, which was cringy and tiring to say the least. I'm no expert, but I'd trade this narrator to listen to Abby Craden or Angela Dawe in a blink of an eye. Just saying...
