Historia
Our world's challenges are too great and too complex for any one organization or government to address on its own. But solutions to these challenges do exist - and will be found through new partnerships bringing together the public, private, and philanthropic sectors. In Social Value Investing, Howard W. Buffett and William B. Eimicke present a new management framework for developing and measuring the success of such partnerships and provide tools to help maximize collaborative efficiency and positive social impact.

Book read by Microsoft Sam.

I read a lot of global health, investment, and economics books. One would think that one that hits on all of these would be a great book. If that person would be me, that person would be wrong. The book is tedious and painful to read oscillating between far overly basic to far too detailed. The fact that they treat all acronyms equal is frustrating. Most people reading something like this know what the DoD is. Few know what a csc is but when you read the book he will give an acronym one shot and then you either memorize it for the rest of the book or, well, good luck trying to get context. I got lost a lot in the book and when I picked up it felt like it was talking about something totally different. I would go back and I would lose concentration again, back and forth, I would try this 3-4 time and just resign to not knowing it. I listen to about 3 books a month and for the first time since I read a machine learning book(which actually read out sections of code) approximately 2 years ago, this will be the first one I bail on in the middle. I even managed to finish on liberty by John Stuart mills without falling off. This one didn’t have enough redeeming factors for me to even finish it. Perhaps with a different reader it would be better, but it feels a lot like the content was poor as well as the reading. This is my first negative review on audible, so I hope that speaks volumes about the book if nothing else does.

Historia
In flow, everyday experience becomes a moment by moment opportunity for joy and self-fulfillment. Flow is the brain-child of a fascinating psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a renowned social scientist who has devoted his life's work to the study of what makes people truly happy, satisfied and fulfilled. While much of the study of psychology investigates disorders of the human mind, Dr. Csikszentmihalyi takes a different route.

The book has a lot of hype
Revisado: 09-13-16
It didn't really live up to the hype from what I heard from other books. I get the feeling the research is compelling but he takes a story telling strategy in this story as opposed to giving details about facts. It makes it feel unreliable even though I am willing to bet with how much this guy is cited that he has a lot of evidence backing him.
Generally, it feels anecdotal which always puts me on edge when listening to a non-fiction book.

Historia
Milton Friedman argues that the appropriate role of competitive capitalism occurs when the majority of our economic activity flows through private enterprise within a free-market environment. This is unequivocally the most effective device for achieving economic freedom, as well as the necessary condition in which political freedom can be attained. Friedman's arguments are positively bold, enlightening, and impacting. Among the specific topics he addresses are "The Control of Money", "Fiscal Policy", "Capitalism and Discrimination", and "Social Welfare Measures".

Meh
Revisado: 01-05-15
Freedom of choice was a lot better. This one wasn't quite as engaging. I am not near as conservative as Milton Friedman, but some of his points in freedom of choice were a lot more convincing.

Supermoney may be even more relevant today than when it was first published nearly 25 years ago. Written in the bright and funny style that became Adam Smith's trademark, this book gives a view inside institutions, professionals, and the nature of markets that has rarely been shown before or since.

Amazing story, amazingly bad narration
Revisado: 05-28-14
Where does Supermoney rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a pretty solid book if you want a glimpse into the bull market of the 50's-60's. It really shines especially if you look at the excesses during the time and compare it to the dot com bubble. This BOOK is up there for me. probably top 30th percentile for books I have gotten the content from. The narration makes it almost unbearable.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Adam Zink?
Stephen Hoye.
