Historia
Every day without fail, Travis Devine puts on a cheap suit, grabs his faux-leather briefcase, and boards the 6:20 commuter train to Manhattan, where he works as an entry-level analyst at the city’s most prestigious investment firm. In the mornings, he gazes out the train window at the lavish homes of the uberwealthy, dreaming about joining their ranks. In the evenings, he listens to the fiscal news on his phone, already preparing for the next grueling day in the cutthroat realm of finance. Then one morning Devine’s tedious routine is shattered by an anonymous email: She is dead.

Kept me guessing
Revisado: 02-08-25
This is my first David Baldacci book and quite a while. He’s always been one of my favorites, I’m just been reading other authors and had gotten away from him. Needless to say I’m back! he always manages to keep me guessing with the storylines. This book did not disappoint.

Was the biggest case of his career the worst mistake he ever made? Ten years ago, DCI Jack Logan stopped the serial child-killer dubbed "Mister Whisper", earning himself a commendation, a drinking problem, and a broken marriage in the process...When another child disappears a hundred miles north in the Highlands, Jack is sent to lead the investigation and bring the boy home. But as similarities between the two cases grow, could it be that Jack caught the wrong man all those years ago?

Historia
It arrives in the morning. An old-fashioned airmail envelope addressed to Detective Nikki Galena. Inside, on a single sheet of blue airmail paper, are three words: You failed me. The second airmail envelope arrives at Nikki's home address. The same message. Only this time, it's followed by four names: Alexandra Cornfield, Ruth Baker, Bethany Lyons, Leanne Delaney. Four missing women. Four local women whose bodies were never found.

Historia
Washington, DC, 1950. Everyone keeps to themselves at Briarwood House, a down-at-the-heels all-female boardinghouse in the heart of the nation’s capital where secrets hide behind white picket fences. But when the lovely, mysterious widow Grace March moves into the attic room, she draws her oddball collection of neighbors into unlikely friendship. Grace’s weekly attic-room dinner parties and window-brewed sun tea become a healing balm on all their lives, but she hides a terrible secret of her own.

Fantastic story!
Revisado: 08-22-24
I absolutely loved this book! It was a definite detour for me from what I normally read. Kate Quinn did an exceptional job of bringing a massive group of characters to life in this story. You cannot get bored here. There’s so much going on, but not so much that you feel like you’re getting lost in the details. The way that actual history is woven into every single person’s narrative is intriguing and informative at the same time.
Grab this one and jump in! I’m going to go find her next book…

Historia
The first time was easy. No one ever suspected the victim had been murdered. The crime long buried, the dark passions guiding the killer's hand are still alive. But the need for revenge cannot be denied. Only one person can stop the killing. Only one person can identify the killer. Only one person knows the face of death is as close as the face in the mirror....

Hard to follow
Revisado: 08-17-24
Difficult story line to keep track of. Maybe if I could have visually read the book, it would have been easier. Trying to follow what was going on by just listening didnt work for me with this book. This is the second disappointing book by this author. I don’t think I’ll try a third.

Historia
The bodies are found in towns and cities around Puget Sound. The young women who are the victims had nothing in common - except the agony of their final moments. But somebody carefully chose them to stalk, capture, and torture...a depraved killer whose cunning is matched only by the depth of his bloodlust. But the dying has only just begun. And the next victim will be the most shocking of all....

Too descriptive
Revisado: 08-02-24
I think I would have enjoyed the story line if I could have actually finished it. I got to around chapter 17 and had to give it up. WAY too much overly descriptive verbiage from the killer. The point could have been reached without making the reader want to throw up or run. Enter at your own risk here!

Historia
Emerson, Georgia, and Marley have been best friends ever since they met at a weight-loss camp as teens. When Emerson tragically passes away, she leaves one final wish for her best friends: to conquer the fears they still carry as adults. For Marley, it's coming to terms with the survivor's guilt she's carried around since her twin sister's death, which has left her blind to the real chance for romance in her life. For Georgia, it's learning to stop trying to live up to her mother's and brother's ridiculous standards and learning to accept love.

Unexpectedly great
Revisado: 07-30-24
I don’t know what I expected when I started this book, but it wasn’t what I got. I haven’t had a story line make me cry, laugh, then cry again like this one did in a LONG time!
The narration is perfect, and even though the ending was somewhat predictable, it was so satisfyingly perfect. Now I want to find another by this author and see if she’s consistently this good.
