Historia
Five years after The Final Day, the Republic of New America has all but collapsed into regional powers and the world at large is struggling to remain stable as regional conflicts ravage the post EMP landscape. After several years attempting to lead a quiet life, John Matherson receives the news that the President is dying from a possible assassination attempt, and is asked to step in to negotiate with what appears to be a new military power hidden in the wreckage of the world. Pulled back into the fray, John struggles to hold the tottering Republic together.

I enjoyed it but.
Revisado: 11-08-23
I do enjoy the books. One thing I really hate is hypocrisy though. It’s easy to say some need to be sacrificed when you’re family and friends aren’t the ones you’re sacrificing. I’m hoping for another book just to see John’s hypocrisy come to bite him in the butt.

It's been a month without power. With no phones, no computers, and no reprieve, the remaining fragments of humanity are disintegrating rapidly. Starvation grips the populace as ruthless gangs emerge, seizing control in a merciless free-for-all that engulfs the entire nation.

I’m hoping it gets better
Revisado: 08-02-23
It seems like the writers didn’t put a lot of research or thought into this. If you’re going to talk about firearms you should at least know the correct terminology essentially when the characters are trained. A Marine wouldn’t invite a group of potential hostiles to surround him. I’m going to try to finish this but if it keeps going the way it is I’m returning it for a refund.

Painful at times
Revisado: 09-14-22
The flow of the writing is disjointed. I had to force my self to finish it; more so with the last book. Some of it just makes no sense. Two people run away from your group and you have them killed because they might be spies no questions asked. Then you have a woman that you know is constantly lying and running away from the group but you let her live. At one point it’s to dangerous to have women go out on scavenging runs. I don’t know why because it’s just as dangerous for the men to go out but apparently the women need to be protected more then the men.

Not great but not bad
Revisado: 07-19-22
Well worth the credit for the box set. I had a few issues with the story but one I just really can’t understand. The group requires kids to start training to fight at 10 and to fight or at least do guard duty at 12. That’s completely understandable however they make a huge stink about a 13 year old and a 16 year old start dating. I mean killing people and possibly dying from fighting acceptable but premarital teen sex bad. Really?

Historia
If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored - if it ever will be.

Not the greatest but not bad
Revisado: 09-23-21
I enjoyed the book. It might not be for some people though. I read some reviews complaining about sexism and how a woman couldn’t handle a gun. In a situation like this yes more men will end up being the protectors than women will be, if you think otherwise you live in a fantasy world.

This series has been 50/50 for me.
Revisado: 08-08-20
The first book wasn’t great but I was told that they got better. I really liked the second and third books. The writing for Alex just so poor. She’s supposed to be the leader of the group and this family is all highly trained. I understand everyone needs to help working around the compound. With that said Alex leaves Max who is one of the best fighters there to garden while she goes on a multi day scavenging trip. I’m completely fine with this being unrealistic. I also like books with magic, elves, and dragons. However things need to be logical with in the world you have created for these characters.

I wanted to like it.
Revisado: 08-04-20
But I had to force my self to finish. Ive already lost to much time with this book so I'll make this quick.
I read a bunch of reviews before getting this book and believed when a few people said "If you liked One Second After and the Home series you'll like this" A statement has never been more wrong. I'll touch on a few things.
1 At the beginning when Sean gathered everyone to listen to his speech I had to fast forward through the last half because I couldn't take it anymore.. I should have just stopped there but no I wanted to give it a chance.
2 I like books that I can get lost in and that never happened with this. I kept getting pulled out because of one reason or another.
3 I stopped listening after this. The first time the group meets with the leader of the local town. The leader out right tells them that he will come back and make them his subjects. The group has the upper hand right then and there but just lets him walk away. No one in their right mind especially those with the amount of military knowledge this group is supposed to have would have let that happen. Basically I'll be back in two weeks with a lot more people to take what's yours and they just let that threat go.
There were so many more instances that I didn't like but I also don't want to write a book on why I didn't like this book.
