The negative governances are far worse than what we had feared and what we had long been warned about. Without question, there is a coup underway—one which aims to overthrow our once mighty America that so many have sacrificed their lives for.

Hillbilly Elegy is a powerful, riveting memoir that tells us about J.D. Vance’s journey from a young, troubled boy to a graduate of Yale Law School. He grew up in Appalachia - in a small town that was drug-torn and filled with misery. It’s very difficult to discern the discontent and rage coming from the working-class whites in modern America, but this audiobook helps you understand why they behave the way they do. Yes, they may seem like a "bunch of lunatics," but at the end of the day, they are just like us.

The plot and presentation started out very interesting; lots of point-of-view changes and scenarios. But the last quarter of the book bogged down in court room machinations that ceased to hold my interest.

What does Steven Weber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I like the "voice" he gives characters when they aren't yelling.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from It?
A lot of the yelling.

So far, so good....worth the $15 a month, and I was a skeptic.

The material is presented in long, drawn out, technical, geographic language which is extremely dry and hard to follow. There are no subheadings or paragraph synopses.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I'm going to go for some old fashioned horror; maybe Stephen King, Anne Rice, or a re-reading of Frankenstein...
