Historia
Rosie, an idealistic and passionate Peruvian American, leaves her Tennessee hometown to pursue her dream of making it in New York as a writer. But her plan is derailed when she ends up in class with her archnemesis and ex-crush, Aiden Huntington—an obnoxious, surly, and gorgeous literary fiction writer who doesn’t have much patience for the romance genre or for Rosie. Rosie and Aiden regularly go to verbal battle in workshop until their professor reaches her breaking point. She allows them to stay in her class on one condition: they must cowrite a novel that blends their genres.

WOW. I really, really enjoyed this one. The two main characters have such good tension and banter in the beginning and all throughout the book. I think that the enemies to lovers plot developed really well. It was a believable progression of the relationship. I did enjoy the way the love story unfolded. The story within a story aspect of the novel was extremely appealing to me. I enjoyed the side characters that were woven throughout as well. I thought that backstories were interwoven well and the way the two characters got to know each other was very clever and made sense for the story. I found myself getting caught up in the story and didn't want to stop reading. I thought this was a great debut novel and look forward to reading more from her in the future.
The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life and making the two characters voices distinct.

Historia
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

This hurt so good
Revisado: 12-20-24
I love Emily Henry’s writing and I’ve been working my way through her backlog. The execution of the themes of friendship, found family, self discovery, love, grief and pain were done incredibly. I cannot wait to read the rest of her backlog (after my heart has recovered first). I identify so much with Wyn in many ways and I think that’s what helped me connect with the story.

Historia
The publication of Go Set a Watchman in 2015 forever changed how we think about Atticus Finch. Once seen as a paragon of decency, he was reduced to a small-town racist. In Atticus Finch, historian Joseph Crespino draws on exclusive sources to reveal how Harper Lee's father provided the central inspiration for each of her books. A lawyer and newspaperman, A. C. Lee was a principled opponent of mob rule, yet he was also a racial paternalist. Harper Lee created the Atticus of Watchman out of the ambivalence she felt toward white southerners like him.

The inspiration of Atticus Finch

4 out of 5 stars
I truly loved this book. To Kill a Mockingbird is my very favorite classic and Atticus Finch is one of my favorite father figures in literature. Learning through this book that Harper Lee based Atticus Finch on her own father is fascinating. She made him a warm father figure because he was present in her own life. Also, I find that drawing connections to the political climate going on at the time of Lee writing her novels (Watchman first, then Mockingbird) made the stories that much more impactful. It truly enlightened me on what was going on in Lee’s life and how that influenced her writing. It also gave Atticus even more depth as a character which I was not expecting. I think that this book perfectly articulated who AC Lee was and the slight contrasts of who Harper Lee wrote Atticus to be.

So MUCH FUN!
Revisado: 04-16-24
I went into this book completely blind. I loved all of the fantasy elements. I loved the romance. I thought the chemistry advanced appropriately. I loved the depth that the characters had and how they handled situations. This book flowed very well and Ross did an excellent job weaving the world building throughout the story without much info dumping. The end of the book had my jaw on the floor. I can’t wait to read book 2! The narrators for this audio were so engaging and it really drew me in to the book. LOVE!
