My taste regarding podcasts and true crime content creators can be temperamental but I absolutely love this podcast. The narration is perfectly balanced and well-paced. The information is always relevant and pertinent, her voice is soothing and her tone is respectful. I appreciate how she gives the victim’s family and friends the time and space to speak about their lost loved ones. Good job!!

As always, great episode! I know you two are avid listeners of OBITCHUARY Podcast and Spencer and Maddison did an episode where that specific crematorium was featured in a coffin-spinner. Mr.Marsh was not licensed/certified to run a retort and neither was his father (the original owner). He ALLEGEDLY didn’t know how to work the retort properly or maintain it for safety standards. He just kept taking bodies because he didn’t want to admit he was in over his head so he consequently displaced the incoming bodies and tried hiding them to keep up the illusion. He was only found out when a propane delivery man came to service the location and saw a mass covered by a tarp that had a body peeking out from the edge of the tarp. He called it in and nobody came out to investigate and it wasn’t until the second time the man called it in that action was taken by local authorities to investigate the claim. You probably know all of this already though. Love you, you spooky seductresses of the morbid arts! - Jessica

The two hosts are rather annoying. They don’t do their due diligence in researching their topics and stories. Wanted to love it. Hosts are incredibly unrelatable and privileged. Very low effort content and poor grammar in their titles and show notes :(

Awesome episode like always! Also, when you were talking about doctor prescribed bathhouse and hot springs use, it reminded me of the medical belief (also in the 1800’s) of Thelasso Therapy which is essentially where you’re instructed to go to an inn on the ocean shore and soak in the water for a number of hours a day and “breathe in the sea air” like a prescription/medical recovery plan. It’s super cool!

Drop Britt if you want to retain listeners

I imagine that Britt’s persona is merely a character she plays for the podcast but she’s insufferable as a co-host. I’m glad Britt recovered from her medical emergency and is “back to normal” but I at least somewhat enjoyed the solo Ashley dynamic we got while Britt was recovering. Ashley is still cringey with her “cutesy” tone and effervescent way of speaking which doesn’t lend itself well to the topic at hand but I can push through that, but Britt’s ridiculous dubiousness in fake script-planted questions are the proverbial nail in the coffin for me. Too much levity not enough gravity. I was shocked that Britt has a husband and children because she sounds so immature that I expected her to be in her late teens. She takes away from the story and the performance. Listen to your reviewers! You’re losing fans at an alarming rate.

Tough Guy’s describing what is called “stream of consciousness” type of poetry that has no rules or requirements. It literally is “whatever is on your mind” :)

I live and die by this podcast trio. I love the nonsense and the dynamic of these three as they end up playing on each other’s personalities and mesh so well. Love you guys!!

I’d like to preface this comment with praise for the general overview of the podcast and I love Stephanie and Derrick. While thoroughness is typically a positive attribute for a true crime creator to possess but it can be a double edged sword when a topic or case isn’t super intriguing. I find that this case doesn’t grab me enough to look forward to the multiple part weekly-released episodes spent on it :( when it’s a four or five parter you’re looking at waiting a month for the current case to end and for a new case to start. I’ll always listen to every episode regardless of my disinterest in the case just to support the podcast but this case feels especially overly dragged out.

I had to restart the book halfway through because I found it impossible to gain an understanding of the characters. The author throws so many names into the first three chapters that it’s very hard to keep up with who’s who. It’s like you need to make a list of who is married to who and who’s kids belong to who. There’s three couples and like three or four kids, that’s 10 characters to sort out in the first three chapters. I’ve never had to restart a book halfway through before caused by complete confusion. I still couldn’t tell you who’s who and what their occupation is. Badly written. This is my first negative review in the years of using audible.

Heartwarming and a must-read coming of age story. Had me rooting for the main character throughout the story. Efficiently explores the dichotomy of loving someone with mental illness and yearning for freedom from the emotional responsibility of the effected loved one. Will be rereading (re-listening) to this book a few times! Jenna Lamia is my favorite narrator ever and her voice fit this story perfectly. Give this book a try, you won’t regret it.
