This was much better than expected! The narrator was excellent and I will seek out other books he has narrated. I would definitely recommend this series!

Historia
Marine biologist Doc Ford has been known to help his friends out of jams occasionally, but he's never faced a situation like this. His old pal Carl Fitzpatrick has been chasing sunken wrecks most of his life, but now he's run afoul of the Florida Division of Historical Resources. Its director, Leonard Nickelby, despises amateur archaeologists, which is bad enough, but now he and his young "assistant" have disappeared - along with Fitzpatrick's impounded cache of rare Spanish coins and the list of uncharted wreck sites Fitz spent decades putting together.

Just OK but narrator was not
Revisado: 01-16-23
I like Doc Ford novels but this one I almost didn’t get through. The narrator was very difficult to understand and I don’t know if it was him or the story that was very confusing at times. It was hard to follow. If you like Doc Ford this would probably be to actually read than to listen to. Still, even then it probably is not the best story.

Unfortunate
Revisado: 06-13-22
Unfortunately the author chose to air his warped left wing political views and hatred for the President instead of continuing a great series. If he wanted to do a political book then he should have done that instead if spouting every left wing agenda talking point of which almost all have been proven wrong. It’s also interesting that a book on men abusing women should bring in such a left wing hatred for President Trump being so anti-woman when virtually every left wing president of the 20th century save 1 was a womanizer. And now we have creepy uncle Joe as President. The left continues to show itself for the hollow self serving hate filled hypocritical movement that it is. I will not be reading the book that comes after this one and will return the rest of the books in this series. Such a shame that this hack had to ruin a really good series that he had written with a political diatribe filled with fake news. R.C. Bray of course was excellent!!

Historia
The daughter of a US Senator is monitoring her social media presence when she finds a picture of herself on a strange blog. And there are other pictures...of the children of other influential Washington politicians, walking or standing outside their schools, each identified by name. Surrounding the photos are texts of vicious political rants from a motley variety of radical groups. It's obviously alarming - is there an unstable extremist tracking the loved ones of powerful politicians with deadly intent? But when the FBI is called in, there isn't much the feds can do.

Yawn!
Revisado: 05-02-20
Please, Please, Please stop writing the political books!! Not one of them has been good!! I hate to say it but it may be time for Lucas to retire and let Virgil take the lead. He seems to have much more interesting cases. Ferrone is great as always reading the Prey books, but the political themed books are very difficult to get through. Lucas needs a good psycho to find and eliminate. You couldn't get a more mundane killer than the guy in this book. This is not the worst of the political books, but its still not as good as the other books in this series. I cringed when I started listening to this book and realized it was going to be based in D.C. and would be all about the politics. Also, is it me or is there something weird about Lucas's and Weather's relationship. The fire seems to be gone and Weather went from being this smart, fun, sensible, sensual character to this boring, dense middle-aged mom. Letty seems to have replaced Weather as the woman in Lucas's life that has any character to her. Maybe Letty will get her own series. Actually, not a bad idea; maybe. And what has happened to Sister Mary Joseph. Conspicuously absent for so many books now. Lucas has clearly moved on. The passion and excitement of the earlier Prey books is hard to find in these later books and just absent all together in the books that are politically themed. The Prey series is one of my favorites but if this is going to be Lucas's life, I really think he should retire, find passion again with Weather, and continue to buy great suits.

Murder. Scandal. Politics. And one billionaire heiress so dangerous in so many ways. An explosive Lucas Davenport thriller from number one New York Times best-selling author John Sandford. All hell has broken loose in the capital. An influential state senator has been caught with something very, very nasty on his office computer. The governor can’t believe it - the senator’s way too smart for that, even if he is from the other party. Something’s not right.

Don’t judge series on this book!!
Revisado: 03-12-20
Yawn!!! There is no reason to read this book unless you are reading the series in order. And, if you would happen to read this book as a stand alone and had never read any of the other Prey books; you never would read any of them because this book is bad. I have read all of Sandford books except for the newest Prey books and this one disappoints. It’s an ok story but he doesn’t know if he wants to write another Flowers book or finally a new Kidd book. Davenport has been neutered by getting married and having kids and Weather has been dumbed down. It’s just kind of weird how the characters have evolved in the books leading up to this one. If you are reading the series plow through this book and get on with the series. If you happen to read this book without ever reading any of the other Prey books, please don’t judge the series based on this book.

Historia
In Philadelphia - suffering among the country's highest murder rates - the tension between the Philadelphia Police Department and its Citizens Oversight Committee has long been reaching a boiling point. That turmoil turns from bad to worse shortly after the committee begins targeting police shootings - especially those of twenty-seven-year-old Homicide Sergeant Matt Payne, the "Wyatt Earp of the Main Line" - and then the committee's combative leader is found shot dead point-blank on the front porch of his run-down Philly row house.

Just Getting Through The Series
Revisado: 12-04-17
So disappointed in this series. I love the first books that are set in he 70’s but really don’t like the books once the time shift is made to the 2000’s. Plus , you can really tell a difference once Griffin brings on his son to hell him write. The books just lose their edge and become soft and more politically correct. I realize some of this is due to the period of time that the newer books are taking place, but the essence of the characters is gone. The storyline is shallow and not edgy. Plus, a common theme among Griffin series are small but noticeable differences in the retelling is incidences and backgrounds of characters. A book or two back in the series the original mayor has shown back up without explanation. I continue to listen because I am a sucker for getting through the entire series and following the characters. Matt is now a sappy in love suddenly all knowing Sargent who is really no longer interesting. Mutt and Jeff have completely disappeared as has Walsh and Amy. The storyline is honestly boring. I really like Scott Brick but not in this series. I have listened to him narrate other series and thought he was good, but no one compares to Michael Risotto in narrating this series. His voice was perfect for the northeast big city attitude. Even with these lame storylines, he would have made it more interesting. This is a common complaint of mine with Griffin series. The first books are just great with the later books lacking and at times just very uninteresting.

Painful Time Warp
Revisado: 11-16-17
The first time I read this book I thought I had purchased the wrong series because the previous book in the series was set around 1975 and now everyone has a cell phone and its around the millennium. There is a good explanation that Griffin gives for the time shift either on his web page or the cover of the book, but it still catches the reader off guard if it is the first time you are reading the series. Also, there are a few characters that are gone and a few new characters that are not nearly as colorful. The time period also tones down the book. The 70's was a gritty time in big city America and there was no Political Correctness to be found. The new time period is full of Political Correctness and the characters in the book reflect this new time period. I definitely prefer the 70's time period for this series. The narrator was painful to listen to. I am sure he is a good narrator, but not for this series. Michael Russotto is my preference for this series. He is able to inflect a natural sarcasm into the voices of the characters that is more than appropriate for a cop series. The other thing that bugs me is the different pronunciations of the names by narrators. There really needs to be a flow from one narrator to the next. They should listen to the previous book to get a clear idea of what they are following. If you have read any of Griffins series, you will know that events are not always retold in the following book in the series the same. Griffin retells events and stories in each of the books of the series and somehow, those events and stories always seem to be changed a little in each subsequent book. I would love to know if he does this on purpose. Overall, if you are listening to the series, you have to listen to this one, even though it will leave you wishing for a different narrator and a different time setting.
