Acerca de esta escucha

Just as with his remarkable military novels, millions of readers and listeners have been captured by the rich characters and vivid realism of Griffin's police dramas.

Now, in Final Justice, Detective Matt Payne - newly promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Homicide - finds himself in the middle of three major assignments. The first, a fatal shooting at a fast-food restaurant, seems simple, but rapidly becomes complicated. The second begins complicated and only gets more so, as Payne becomes involved with a local guru who has fled the country, leaving behind the mutilated body of his girlfriend in a trunk. And as if that weren't enough, the self-absorbed star of a series of improbable movies comes to town - and it is his presence that will complicate Payne's life most of all.

Filled with color and detail and plots as real as the headlines, this is a riveting novel of the men and women who put their lives on the line, from the cop on the beat to the commissioner himself.

Phenomenal characters. Great insight into police work. Gritty and real. very believable book. Probably the fifth time I've read it.

I'm not quite sure why key details changed in this story from the timeline, siblings and structure. This book just seemed to miss the mark from the previous books in the series. For Instance the reason Matt was not allowed in the Marine Corp was originally something to do with eye sight (I suspect it was colorblindness), however it suddenly changes to something to do with his ears. The timeline jumps 20 years but the characters age 6 months? Reading the other series that W. E. B. Griffin has written there are a few inconsistencies, but nothing as glaring as this one.

As for the Narration, It was slow and done poorly. I had to speed it up in my App. This was the first book I have listened to by Patrick G. Lawlor that I can remember.

Overall this book and narration just missed the mark and quality I come to expect from W. E. B. Griffin. It's good, just not great.

I am disappointed that the narrator changed from the earlier books. He is a shadow of his predecessor in terms of making the characters come alive.

8th in this series--as usual, you do not have had to read the preceding novels, as he more or less tells you everything that has happened so far,. That, in itself can be annoying for those of us who read serially. That said, this is the best of the series to date....everything revolves around Matt Payne and his new assignment as a Sgt detective.Payne's character has never seemed more real.. Major gaff: all of a sudden we have laptops, cellular phones and digital cameras which were not there before.but NOBODY is any older. I was enjoying the 1970s and we just added 25 years. As always, we (re)learn a lot about the inner workings of the Philadelphia PD. Mickey, the newspaper guy, also featured. Another beef: the story just ends.....again.

I love listening to WEB Griffin books, because the narrator is consistent. This book had a different narrator, one who didn't pronounce names the same and who didn't vary their voice very much when switching between characters. It definitely took something away from the story.

Good story, rough narration.

I have read many of the negative reviews regarding this narrator and must sadly conclude they are spot on. Excellent story, notwithstanding the usual retelling of all that preceded this book.

Poor Narration

really liked it, I wish It had been longer.
Still waiting to find out what happened.

Don't get me wrong, the narration was not bad, it just was not up to the narration standard set in the first few books. Even Dick Hill, who narrated one of the previous books and who is one of the best in the business, was not as good as the original narrator. it is too bad Rizzo? did not continue this series.

Otherwise, s pretty good read.
