Incredible book.
Revisado: 07-14-24
After following Dr. Cate for over a decade, I definitely expected this book to be amazing, and it was. The book definitely lives up to its name, as the story of how vegetable oils made it into our diet is very dark indeed. Dr. Cate covers the topics of vegetable oil, its history, and its harms to human health incredibly well. I can’t recommend it enough!

Historia
Before the discovery of insulin, diabetes was treated almost exclusively through diet, from subsistence on meat, to reliance on fats, to repeated fasting and near-starvation regimens. After two centuries of conflicting medical advice, most authorities today believe that those with diabetes can have the same dietary freedom enjoyed by the rest of us, leaving the job of controlling their disease to insulin therapy and other blood-sugar-lowering medications.

This is an excellent and very comprehensive book about the unconventional treatment of diabetes. Hopefully more people will read this, and question the conventional approaches to the treatment of diabetes.

Historia
Pharmacist Cory Jenks had all the elements to make a competent healthcare professional. Good looks, academic accolades, multiple board certifications, and a competitive residency. However, none of these items prepared him for truly caring for his patients in a chaotic healthcare environment, and he was struggling. After implementing lessons he learned as an improv comedian, Cory’s perspective began to shift. In this audiobook, Cory takes you through the comical and powerful tools needed to create a memorable, humanizing experience for your patients and colleagues.

Excellent book!!
Revisado: 10-01-23
This is a fabulous book, Cory the author did an amazing job writing it. It is funny, entertaining, and highly educational. The book is written to medical professionals, of which I am not one, but I still found the content to be highly valuable. Even though I don’t see patients, I have a better understanding of how to relate to the people in my life, and how to empathize and listen more intently. I highly recommend it!

Historia
In Curable journalist and health care advocate Travis Christofferson looks at medicine through a magnifying glass and asks an important question: What if the roots of the current US health care crisis are psychological and systemic, perpetuated not just by corporate influence and the powers that be, but by you and me? Curable outlines the future of medicine, detailing brilliant examples of new health care systems that prove we can do better. It turns out we have more control over our health (and happiness) than we think.

Historia
Almost every day we are bombarded with the seemingly incontrovertible message that we must reduce our consumption of meat and dairy—or eliminate them from our diets altogether. But what if the pervasive message that the plant-based diet will improve our health and save the planet is misleading—or even false? What if removing animal foods from our diet is a serious threat to human health, and a red herring in the fight against climate change.

Comprehensive and well-researched book!
Revisado: 06-13-22
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Jayne Buxton did an incredible job telling this important story in a balanced and informative way. I have been in the health and nutrition space for over 15 years, and have grappled with what to eat, and what to recommend to my clients. I have personally interviewed many of the experts that she cites, who have all confirmed Jayne‘s findings. This book is not a condemnation of eating plants, but a more honest report on the idea that plant-based diets are absolutely the very best for our health and the health of the planet. I would encourage anybody to read this book, keeping an open mind, and realizing that the plant-based narrative is not all that it’s made out to be.

Keeping skin healthy is a booming industry, and yet it seems like almost no one agrees on what actually works. What one person says is vital another says is toxic. We have not cured acne or eczema, allergies keep getting worse, and autoimmune conditions are becoming increasingly common. In Clean, doctor and journalist James Hamblin explores how we got here, examining the science and culture of how we care for our skin today.
