For current and future YouTubers, this is the best book out there. How do I know? I've read the others. There is zero fluff in this book, Nate Woodbury gets right into his formula from the start. His method is exceptionally well-explained, making it easy for even absolute beginners to apply immediately.

Nate emphasizes a "quality over quantity" approach to building subscribers. Many content creators make the mistake of building a vast audience of "fly-by-night" fickle fans, which is as unsatisfying as it is difficult to maintain. I've interviewed entrepreneurs caught in this trap. Create content that answers questions people are asking is integral to his process. Our own book Scintilla (available here on Audible/Amazon) also discusses the power of keywords, search queries, and trends. We'd considered adopting that for our YouTube channel but didn't how important it is until Nate explained it in his guide,

While he still makes classic but valid recommendations such as the importance of thumbnails, his overall strategy is different. He doesn’t over-promise, instead laying out a clear long-term growth strategy that spans from week two to year two. The "Leaf" strategy outlined in the book provides a straightforward path to channel growth. Business owners looking to showcase their expertise in a particular niche will definitely want to put this concept into action.

The content creation advice is logical and manageable, even for busy professionals. While deciding whether to buy this book, I was already familiar with how great Nate’s YouTube channels are. What I didn’t realize until reading this was the sheer number of other channels he has helped grow through his consulting. He works with seven-figure entrepreneurs regularly, making this book an absolute bargain.

What a journey! My favorite aspect of the book is how Robert dishes on his experience behind the scenes in Hollywood while delivering useful life advice.

Many audiobooks suffer from poor narration, not this one. Robert is a gifted narrator, no surprise he also coaches other authors to bring their audiobook to life.

Lights, action, you is a quick and enjoyable listen. No fluff, good stories mixed with life lessons. Robert’s own enthusiasm for the material shines through via his expert narration.

Five stars!

This book is a slow burn. It starts slows and doesn't get much faster. Double speed is a must. Big fan of his work up to about Heat. The fits and starts of his career, and what lie at the center, are revealed. Pacino is honest about his failings and generous to those that helped him. Those are two things I look for in an autobiography by a public figure as a test of their merit. I went into the book assuming he was a brilliant, coked-out, irresponsible, under-prepared actor with an innate gift. I was only wrong about one of those things.

The book is heavy on his pre-fame years with a lot of childhood and family tales. When he does get into the weeds about Hollywood his memory is muddled. He explains why but is still a shame his recall is so poor. Pacino does recall his one pre-Godfather meeting with Brando that I believe every word of. Outside of that quick look at Brando it seems Pacino failed to connect with the people he worked with. When he does have long friendships and relationship the characters are not fleshed out. Disappointing considering what he does for a living. If you like Pacino get the book, there is enough in the second half of the book to get a rough sketch of the man himself.

Professional writers know you don't say "He was a great guy and we've been friends for 30 years", you tell a story that demonstrates that. Not a great book but not bad either.

A career retrospective with insight into criminals

More than just a narrative on crime. The book offers perspective on how people turned to criminality like the mother/daughter fraudsters mentioned in the book. Unlike other authors, Scott doesn't lean into the extreme dark side of his investigations. He instead crafts a more compelling story by detailing cause, effect, and the lives affected. He also isn't shy about exposing the mundane nature of PI work; like sitting for four hours or days staring through the car windshield waiting for something to happen. Scott lets us look through his eyes as he silently monitors the targets of his investigations.

He's been the business long enough to recall when the profession's standards were loose and shares some trade-craft from those outlaw days.

Enjoyed all the South Texas references since I also called that area home for about ten years. One on my favorite parts of the book involves someone who almost hired him because he charged too much. That decision cost them a lot more than money in the long run. Overall it is an interesting career retrospective of a private investigator. He runs a podcast and has a great voice so hoping he'll narrate the next book. Confessions of a Private Eye is part autobiography, part true crime, and an education on how people game the system. I recommend it.

First-time author Luv Lubker's "Under His Spell" intertwines real historical events with her own flourishes.

Admittedly, I'm not a regular consumer of fiction, but I was impressed with the number of character's presented here. The logistical challenge of having it read by an ensemble cast was quite a feat. Such things are normally only seem from work by large publishing houses. Kudos to all involved in the production.

The book itself is very heavy in dialog. The exchanges do add color to the characters but where "Under His Spell" shines is in the longer prose. Mostly written in the third person, I enjoyed this much more than the "back-and-forth" patter. This has more to do with my personal tastes than the book. If you're a fan of historical fiction, or of this royal family, there is more on the way from Lubker.

Good overview and could quickly recognize the value. We’ve all probably invested time in a business or prospect based of feedback; only to find out that what we thought was interest was simply them being polite.

There’s not a book out there that addresses the topic as quickly, clearly, and intuitively. The lessons here are immediately applicable.

Fitzpatrick mentions a symbols system he uses when taking notes. Sounded effective but could not find a reference sheet for it anywhere. The lack of or the lower quality of post listening resources is a common problem with non-fiction business audiobooks.

Overall this is a recommended listen and a quick one to get through.

The answer to "Why didn't Paul become a big star?"

Made the mistake of listening to this right after Dick Gregory's autobiography. Dick overcame abject poverty and the moment he tasted success, which he could have just enjoyed, decided to throw himself into activism. Dick was beaten, jailed, and under threat of assassination many times. Dick became a legend in his own lifetime due to his love, mentorship, and giving nature. Paul walked on the path that Dick and other heroes of the civil rights movement paved. Paul was looking out for Paul and somehow still managed to burn bridges in front of and behind him.

Richard Pryor was a big part of the book, which was not a surprise. Paul referred to Richard's addiction, and character flaws, no less than twenty times. However, when Paul mentions he fathered children with three different women before he was 21, it was mentioned in passing. The subject was treated with the same lack of self reflection as the rest of the book. Remember when a reporter asked Former President "W" Bush if he made any mistakes, but he couldn't think of any? Yes, this whole book is like that, and just as unfortunate. You can tell Paul was trying to project confidence but it was masking deep self-hatred.

During his constant conspiratorial musings he never once provided any hard evidence for his wild theories. Considering how long he was in the entertainment business he never mustered the bravery to call anyone out despite pages of broad criticism. The book was tiring. One of the few people he halfway tried to thank he also vaguely accused them of theft. Almost seven decades in the business and you can't think of anyone to thank?

Only towards the very end of the book after Richard's near-fatal burning does Paul display a moment of empathy. Anyone getting this book knows Paul was an important part of comedy history. However, this book did no favors for his legacy. Paul took a great deal of bitterness to his grave and passed on without know his greatest enemy was himself.

Dick puts the late fifties in clear view. Through the eyes of race and poverty we’re given a small sense of how rough life was. Just as Dick started to enjoy the comforts of a well-earned success he threw himself into activism that took the lives of many of his peers.

This book was recently suggested during an interview with Demond Wilson who played “Lamont” next to Redd Foxx’s “Fred Sanford”. Glad to have read Dick’s story.

Few stories remain as relevant as Dante's masterpiece. The BBC's superb dramatization puts you right next to the author as he descends and ascends the afterlife. Saint Peter's final question will not doubt linger in the listeners mind. Dante weaving true elements of his own life in The Divine Comedy provides context into what drove him to write it.
