Honestly just not my thing I guess. The story wasn’t bad but I just found the further along i got I just didn’t care about any of the characters. The main character who goes missing was honestly kind of awful. But I think ultimately it came down to the narrators. The female lead spoke soooo slowly and I found her voice grating. The male narrator was fine enough but I felt like he sounded too old for the majority of the characters. I’d pass on this one

Re •sent •ment: The act of hating - no, f--king loathing Dean Collins. (Yes, I'm well aware that's not the actual definition, but it might as well be....) It's been 10 years since we've seen each other, and the feelings are still as strong. I'm not going to bore you with all the details of how our love was once intoxicating, consuming, and perfect. Because it was...until it wasn't. I've been fine without him. I haven't missed his cruelty, his coldness, and his spite. And after the ugliest breakup in the history of breakups, I forced myself to move on.

Revisado: 01-03-25
I’m sorry but I found this incredibly annoying. The whole thing. I’m glad that there was sort of a resolution at the end but I found the female character and narrator super annoying and I didn’t honestly feel a connection with anyone in the whole book. If you’re not sure about this one I’d say skip it. I didn’t honestly feel enjoy the male narrators voice but he was only in like 5 chapters in the whole thing. Not worth it

Good but so painfully long
Revisado: 11-21-24
I enjoyed this book up to a point. It was well written and the narrators did great it was just way way too long. I felt like about halfway through it lost focus to the point where I questioned what the main story was even about. Also Lake’s mood swings I found inexplicable and jarring. Sort of like ok I don’t know where to go now with the story, let’s make her knowingly cause unnecessary drama… I don’t know. If given a second chance I’d skip this one.

Romance can be a little complicated when you get sucked into a wormhole. Just ask high school English teacher June Flint. Your favorite stuffed-crust pizza from DeLucia’s on Sunday nights. But when June’s cell phone inexplicably picks up a signal, she’s able to call back to the present—more specifically, four weeks before she accidentally time traveled.

Revisado: 06-29-24
This was such a fun and different story. LOVE the ensemble narration! It’s more like a teleplay than a book. Noah Reid’s voice is just dreamy. Both main characters narrations were superb. If you’re looking for something fun and sort of off the wall but also totally sweet, please give this a listen.

This was super predictable but it was well written and a sweet story. Romance was light if that’s what you’re looking for, nothing graphic. Honestly I got it for January LaVoy. LOVE her narrations.

Rory MacTaggart is an uptight lawyer by day and a steamy seducer by night. One night in New Orleans changed my life. But is it for better or worse? The instant I see Emery Granger, I need to possess her. A one-night stand should've been the end of it. Except I can't quite let her go yet. A marriage of convenience is the best I can offer. For reasons I can't fathom, Emery agrees to marry me for money, knowing it will last only one year. She is the opposite of every woman I've ever known.

Ick and creepy
Revisado: 07-11-23
Ok, So don't get me wrong, I generally enjoy Shane East's narrations, but from the beginning, listening to this book, the way he spoke with that Scottish accent was just cringe-worthy. Every word out of his mouth sounded creepy and kind of rapey. I don't know how else to describe it. And his female voice, UGH! awful.
I have not read any of the other books in this series, but I had them on my wishlist. Not sure how I wound up purchasing this one first, but regardless, I didn't care for the story line. I found it boring and predictable and the sex scenes were just too creepy with that voice. I know Will M Watt narrates another one of the books, I think that's what first made them catch my eye. I'll likely give that one a try before giving up entirely, but I just couldn't even bring myself to finish this one. No matter what kind of ending it has, I just can't handle the weird breathy voice a minute longer.
This is a hard pass for me, despite all the glowing reviews. Maybe if I'd actually read it instead of listened to it I would have liked it more, but some how I doubt it.

Not a typical romance but soooo worth the listen ❤️❤️
Revisado: 01-29-23
Such an amazing story. I was enthralled from the beginning and it didn’t matter that the only sex scene was at the very end. The story of their love was so beautiful, it didn’t need any more that’s it had. The narrator’s were awesome and I would read literally anything else that Debra Anastasia had written no questions asked.
I also enjoyed the nod to her other books Mercy/Havoc/Lock where a man with tattoos making him look like a skeleton randomly walked down the city street past Pixie. It made me smile 😊

They say that all men are created equal. Well, that’s a blatant lie! I know, because I met God's gift to women in Vegas; I pretended he was my husband to get rid of another man. He took our fake marriage seriously, and it became his personal goal to consummate. He spoke to me in French, and I lied to him in German. His laughter was addictive. But I thought what happens in Vegas would stay in Vegas. Until it didn't.

should have read the reviews
Revisado: 12-09-22
Its terrible to say i wasted money on this solely because i liked the narrators and was excited for Stephen Dexter's aussie accent. Such a mistake. First of all, its obvious this is not an american author but a british author writing as an american and an aussie. I'm sorry i've never heard american's say "Bloody" like ever, but that was all over the place. Fine. Not that big of a deal right? but then just all the other terminology was clearly british so it just read funny with american accents. The Lift, go to University, Ring him up, etc etc. Ok so that was awkward and clunky to read but whatever. The main thing i couldn't get past was the word SEXILY. First of all i don't think i've ever even heard that word before (I had to google it because i'd convinced myself it wasn't even a word) and it was used i swear at least 100 times in the story. You really couldn't have thought of any other word to describe a smile or a look or a wink? Drove me NUTS. Beyond all the awkward language, the story wasn't terrible but by hour 9 i sort of hated both of the main characters because all they did was whine and act shitty to each other but then some how still have mind blowing sex. But at the end of the day this story just sucked. and it was 18 hours long!!! i quit listening by the 21st chapter and just skipped through because i just didn't care any more. I wish i had those hours back. If you're undecided about this one, do yourself a favor and skip it.

Winnifred Gobaldi and Byron Visser are not best friends. Yes, they’ve known each other for years, but they’re not even friendly. Winnie considers them more like casual, distant acquaintances who find each other barely tolerable, especially when he's being condescending (which is all the time).

I ❤️ Penny Reid but…
Revisado: 09-16-22
I have adored every single book I’ve read or listened to by Penny Reid. Obsessed over, even. I read this when it was first released and I loved it even if it was a little long winded at times. It just so happens both of the main characters are just super overthinkers. I didn’t find it bothersome when I read it but for some reason listening to it somehow emphasized this fact and while I still loved the characters and the story very much I feel like it might have been better suited as a series of books in the way of the Hypothesis series. Just to sort of break it up a little. Definitely worth a read though!

Great Story! Awkward love scenes
Revisado: 08-26-22
This story was so good! It was unique and not at all what I’m used to reading. The narrator was great. My only criticism is the language in the love scenes was often a bit awkward. Also I’m not sure who finds “vaginal channel” to be sexy at all but it’s used soooo much. I’ve read a lot of romance and there are so many other words that could be used. Made me cringe every time 😬 aside from that though very interesting and entertaining story.
