Average story; Terrible end

Story is listenable until the end where there is a bunch of whiny hand waving to beat the antagonist. The solution made the entire story seem overwrought and emotionally manipulative in hindsight.

The the time speed up mechanics is often forgotten during tense moments giving the story poor plotting. Skip.

Average Fast-paced Adventure

There is a lot of venturing with many battle scenes and cost action. This comes at cost. There is not much characterization nor world building.

Even though part of a series, this is a good one off. That said, I will stop here. The McMuffin was collected at the end and the characters lack motivation, which will likely make the next book a slog to get through.

Decent isekai not isekai

Middle aged man get punted to deserted island via maou magic. Various creatures and monster girls appear as the main character base builds. Fairly standard with enough twists on the genre to keep it interesting.

The story is unusual as the antagonist is mostly mental. Conversations occur both verbally and less so, which helps with pacing over the more typical he said she said routine.

I will not pick up the next volume due to character bloat that will water down the interpersonal interactions (especially after what happens near the end.) Also, the main character has no real motivations, which will make the next books boring and repetitive.

Nothingness

The main character has no motivation, goal, or aspiration through the book as she is already god (her words.) With the lack of a strong personality, this means she is pushed from scene to scene like a doll. Same with the support characters.

The only people with goals are the antagonists making it a battle for nothing against something. Rather boring.

Dave, this story can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.

The main character’s amorality isn’t the main issue here. The problem is the story seems built on heavy AI usage. Grammatically correct but over precise. This makes the story vapid.

Also is lazy in its usage of the virtual voice not even bothering to add enunciation features to add character.

Problematic Monster Hunter

The world is against murder hobo #733 you see. Their cross is big, bigger than most.

After an a good intro, the entire story devolves around being signaled out as different. It must be said at least 100 times in the first hour.

It is also a part of his harem. This all in attempt to drive sympathy for characters who are not particularly nice or interesting people. Hard pass.

Amusing Anti-villain Story

This is a decent light listen that engages right away. The story revolves around a straight man surrounded by a wacky set of characters, especially his waifus. Their interactions are great until the end where the energy sort of fizzles.

The incel world is a bit…much. It detracts during the sporadic serious moments. It is an attempt to make the main character more likable since he is basically a serial killer. It would have been more interesting if his motivation was less altruistic.

Good start, but I will skip the later installments for now. It hard to see how the story can maintain its ienergy.

Prostitution with extra steps

The one was on the bubble, but it ended in a down vote.

The good. Dark interpersonal vibe with interesting character interactions along with very good voice acting, well when they don’t sing.

The bad. Heavy use of modern allegories boarding on propaganda. It also is in need of a good editor. Solutions and issues seen to pop in without warning. These could have been solved with a few throw away lines or slight rewrites. The ending act is nonsense as everyone from the main characters to the police act idiotically.

Pleasantly Average

For an anime inspired western story, this is better than most. Guy goes to another world becomes a hero, falls, gets the girl, saves the day, then happy ending. The last aspect elevates it since most of these stories never end.

It is very heavily influenced by late 00s to early 10s anime, with wholesale borrowing of thematic elements which will somewhat dictate your feelings towards the work.

While the story and wordplay are fine, it could have used a little editing to make the story flow better. Some parts are too long and others too short.

Innocent MurderHobo Turned Psycho

Starts well enough. MurderHobo #529 finds cheat power then hones his craft.

Through the first two-thirds it is ok with an innocent and straight forward vibe. Then women enter the picture. He becomes a vile person playing then killing his enemies with a smile on his (and is lovers) faces.

Lest you enjoy listening to a villain who would end someone simply for bumping in to them while at the market, skip this.
