The automated narrating voice isn't bad. The story... absolutely incredible. I teared up when listening to the part about the father. This author is such a wise soul. For any occcult/spiritual researcher, this is a must-read.

Historia
Bernard Beitman, a leading expert on coincidence studies, proposes a greater personal responsibility that depends partly upon newly discovered "grid cells" located in the brain, near the hippocampus. But neuroscience cannot complete the entire puzzle, and in this fascinating guide, Beitman provides the missing piece. While analyzing true stories of synchronicity from around the globe and throughout history, he shares key personality characteristics and situational factors that contribute to the occurrence of meaningful coincidences in our lives.

Unless you are wanting a book that shares a day's worth of material on individualized and personalized accounts of synchronicities, then start on chapter 13 (near the end of the book). I really regret using my free credit here.

Historia
The experience of meaningful coincidences is universal. They are reported by people of every culture, every belief system, and every time period. Synchronicity examines the evidence for the human influence on the meaningfulness of events, and the way the modern computational model of the mind predicts how we create meaning. It demonstrates that these events, based on the activity of the mind, are caused by the person who perceives them.

I couldn't make it past Ch 12
Revisado: 08-31-22
If you are an atheist materialist technocrat, you may enjoy this book. I hate to be so harsh on the philosophically-minded author who writes so well, but I have a few grievances with this material. The work lacks depth and substance, and the author substitutes this for lengthy elementary 'proved science' and physics. The book is easily comprehensible, but that isn't the issue. He struggles to explain the unseen phenomena with cold proven science, mildly speculative psychology and (rarely) surface-level mysticism while calling Albert Einstein a "mystic" and giving well-invested enthusiasm for the spiritual mockery of the Flying Spaghetti Monster pastafarians. The best core explanation that i got out of the book was a Buddhist reference that we are ultimately 'All one' and interconnected this way on an unseen infathomable level. There were multiple boasts and patting his own back, calling the book's material "open/broad minded". Not to mention, nearly all of the metaphors and analogies were cringe-worthy. The author means well, and I'm wholeheartedly appreciative that he is writing about the subject. It felt like a magical experience to have dozens of SE's just while listening to the book! But as an avid occultist and spiritualist, dedicating decades to the field in reading and research, I feel this book was lacking in all the ways that count.

Historia
In the holy city of Tova, the winter solstice is usually a time for celebration and renewal, but this year it coincides with a solar eclipse, a rare celestial even proscribed by the Sun Priest as an unbalancing of the world. Meanwhile, a ship launches from a distant city bound for Tova and set to arrive on the solstice. The captain of the ship, Xiala, is a disgraced Teek whose song can calm the waters around her as easily as it can warp a man’s mind. Her ship carries one passenger.

The story was great, but there's a few issues.
Revisado: 08-07-22
I don't see how people can complain about cliffhangers and unfinished business when the summary clearly states that this is book#1 of a series. This is a theological-political story. I love the totemism and cosmological contents; Though, the characters' dialogs were completely out of place. I understand that the story takes place is fictional times and settings, but it seems to be similar to pagan times, pagan practices and lifestyles... yet the female characters are crass, filthy and ghetto akin to modern times. I really hope that in the next book that's released the characters' speaking parts match the setting better. The story is great, but when the characters speak, I feel like I'm re-living the worst experiences of Walmart at 1am. My other issue is with the female narrator. This book features multiple narrators, which is fine. But the female narrator made our favourite raven character weird, awkward and downright painful to listen to. She makes our raven friend sound like some slow, breathy vampire transylvanian attempting sex appeal on its death bed. After 50+ books on Audibles, I've had to use the Speed altering option for the first time. I hope that this narrator isn't used for further books. If so, I won't be purchasing book 2. Outside of the character dialog issues and the female narrator, the story itself was great, and the author describes the characters and settings quite well. I feel this series would benefit best with a co-author for future input.

Historia
In this audiobook, Jungian analyst Stanton Marlan reexamines the paradoxical image of the black sun and the meaning of darkness in Western culture. In the image of the black sun, Marlan finds the hint of a darkness that shines. He draws upon his clinical experiences - and on a wide range of literature and art, including Goethe’s Faust, Dante’s Inferno, the black art of Rothko and Reinhardt - to explore the influence of light and shadow on the fundamental structures of modern thought as well as the contemporary practice of analysis.

This is a foundation-shaking book taking you through the alchemical processes of internal work. It explains well the source of darkness, the void and light of night. The book contains many photos and images. Good as an audiobook and to have in hand.

Revisado: 01-24-20
First off, the narration isn't that bad. Despite the other reviews, the narrator's voice is a bit oddly mechanical yet still doable. His voice is not all that distractive. If you like C.S. Lewis' stories, then you'll love this one... it could rightfully be named 'Friendship with Satan'. Enjoy!
